Monsters u haven't used since 1st/2nd Edition

First Post
Ok I've been DMing D&D since 1990 and I've run all 3 editions. I was thinking the other day of all the 1st/2nd edition monsters which used to pop up in my games and realised that I haven't used a lot of them in 3rd edition! I'm talking about core monsters here, monsters I used to use constantly pre-d20 but for whatever reason I haven't used them in my 3rd edition games. These include, and are not limited to:

Giants
Beholders
Dragons (only used a black dragon since d20 came out!)
Golems
Umber Hulks
Lich
Bugbears

Anyone else realise they haven't used some old favourites yet?

hmm ive seen all of those used ALL the time against me as a player. however, in 3.X i havnt seen too much of the lycanthropes. i literally began D&D fighting werewolves, and havnt seen one since the new books. now that i think about it, its probably for the better, less characters i'll have to reroll :D

Flail snails and the occasional linorm.

That's about it really. My monster choices have remained pretty consistent accross the editions, and I still use the same monsters I've always used regularly.

Hmmmm.....

In the 2e days I used a lot more various weird monsters, mostly because I had all my 1e and 2e resources to draw on. From weirdos like the enveloper in the 1e FF to the faux faerie/assassin imp combo from the various 2e MC volumes, I was more familiar with a much broader variety of monsters than I am in 3e, especially given how many of the 3e monsters are new in everything after the MM1. Even when I remember a given new critter might be fun to use, I don't often have a good 'feel' for how to run it effectively. :o Well, I guess missing 20 years of practice with some of the old goodies in 1/2e will do that to ya...

Just thinking over the adventures I've run since d20 came out...

No bugbears (you are right!)
No Owlbears
No bullywugs

But I think that's it. I keep thinking of monsters I used in OD&D, and each time, I also used them at least once in the past 5 years.

Mmmmmmm, custom creatures designed to whup the party's ass. I love'em.

I recently threw a Thoul at a group of players. They wanted to know what it was, and I told them.
