Monstrous Races for PCs wishlist

I don't think that one really needs to have a half-orc race. Just go back to the 1st edition "fluff" where 10% of the race are just like humans and the rest are just like orcs.

Assign the human bonus to the orcish stats and move on.

So I guess your also in favor of killing off the Half-Elf?

BTW, anyone know how I can shrink pixel size so I can get my pic I want up?

I'd like playable dragons. Council of Wyrms style. I know this will be nigh-impossible, because dragons tend to be elites or solos, and so it'd be quite a tough thing to match them against a normal PC of the same level, and level adjustments are just...not something I want to see back in the game. And having a PC dragon be unable to take on a monster dragon would be kinda lame.

I'd be fine if the mundane half-races were eliminated. I don't think most players are into dealing with a realistic portrayal of most half-races and the intense bigotry they would encounter. I can't stand the "new" half-elves who are super-socialites because they "live in both worlds". Maybe I'm a pessamist, but I think half-elves would suffer a lot of bigorty against them and half-orcs far, far worse. Many of both ending up killed as infants or the mother killed.

So... lets just boot mundane racial crossbreeding as a possiblity altogether and avoid such dreadful contemplation.

Well, you just have to somehow make a powerful enough class that it could take on a solo... solo.

Alternatively, downgrade monsters in this world. A regular young blue dragon is only a regular monster to the dragon PCs, not a solo, with HPs and defenses to match being regular. Heck, you can probably just lift most of the MM entries and re-purpose them for the dragon PCs. Those arn't Kobolds, those are cowardly hill giants. Those are some really big trolls they're growing around here... Oh, hey. A paragon fighter with a dragonslayer, eek.

It'd take some work, but it seems it's easier to rotate the world around the PCs rather than trying to re-do the math to account for 3-6 solo level PCs.

My what?

Oh, I see. Yes, I am in favour of "killing off" the half-elf as a specially designated race. Perhaps the D&D design team will come up with something interesting, though. Half-elves have such an important role in Tolkien and in D&D novels, though no D&D race rules have ever really reflected either role, except for the incorporation of infravision and increased age limits in half-elves.

The Frog people are the Bullywugs.

I would like to see my all time Favorite Thri-Keen, dark sun style (more like centaur insects instead of the Bipeds shown in the MM)

Although I agree that the Half-Races need a better defined niche in the D&D world, I feel that they do define their place by forming a bridge between two races.

This brings up a really good topic actually. What is the roll of Half-Races? We can't get rid of them, yet the socialite Half-Elf that 4e is making kinda makes me scratch my head at times. Would a Half-Orc also be a socialite? Or the other side of the spectrum, a unsocialized human? Then what about Half-Dragons?

ALso, dont forget that Tieflings and Aasimers started off as One-QUARTER demon or angel, and 3/4 human! Now they have their own history. We have to do Half-Races justice, IMO.

By some peoples' logic we may even have to do away with Halflings! THats just ludicrious.

I really want Orc, Half-Orc, and all the Goblins. I would like Lizardfolk too. Gnolls, and Half-giants or even a playable large giant. With all that, I can pretty much continue my old campaign without much trouble.

What? No drow? I got a crazy new character concept for one, too. See, he's really good, see? And he goes against his evil heritage, and goes up to the surface-world. Now, stop if you've heard this one before, but he becomes a ranger, right... with two scimitars. Totally rockin'.
