Monte Cook on call-in radio tomorrow

Ergh!

This was a frustrating one. I went to an internet cafe just to listen to monte's show on a fast connection (it was at a convenient 8:00 pm here), and when I got there I realized I had forgotten headphones, and the internet cafe didn't have any.

I drove home in the hope I could try to stream the show on my dial-up connection, and realized I needed to download realplayer. For some reason, I don't have it; I think it got deleted or something.

So I missed it.

Can anyone be nice enough to summarize what they talked about?

Monte talked in a lot of general terms about d20, the nature of role-playing in general and the state of D&D.

I was the first caller on the show, and probably pointed it in that direction a little. After I got off, I missed hearing 15-20 minutes in the middle of the show, because I had to take a phone call.

Overall I don't think he said anything anyone here didn't already know, but maybe a few new folks in Illinois will discover gaming, or at least understand it a little better.

Realplayer? Feh! Now I know I'll never get to hear it. I like Monte and all... But it's not worth having to install that *thing* on my computer.

I did a similar thing in my hometown (read: in the bible belt), and all these religious flakes were calling in claiming it was Satanic, and I called in, and told them I was a college student, majoring in computer science, had a good GPA, and never got into any trouble, and that D&D was a game just like Monopoly is a game.

Though, after that my sister called and said that her brother "played the game every day!", which wasn't true (once a week). And so then people started calling in claiming that it must be an addiction!

Oh well. At least they stopped trying to insinuate that it was a Satanic game.

Back on topic, I couldn't get it to work. Realplayer works sometimes, and sometimes it doesn't. Never figured out why, exactly.

I'm kind of surprised to hear that. I thought the satanic thing was pretty well long gone. How long ago was this?

Is there any way to download the interview? Will it be re-broadcast any time? I can't believe I missed it.:(

Hmmm - I'll ask. The station is generally pretty friendly to those of us in the community.
