Unless Malhavoc is going to continue to keep the normal AU book in print, I have a problem with this.

While I like the idea of combining AU, DT, most of the PG and new stuff into one book....it's 50 dollars. It's a 50 dollar player's handbook.

I'm looking into starting an AU game soon* and so far I'm the only person I know with the book (though others are interested). Considering these peoples finances at this point, they probably wouldn't be able to swing it until early next year. ...See the problem? I would never ask anyone to buy a 50 dollar book just to play in a damn game.

I hope they continue to keep the old one in print. Otherwise...it's more of a luxury than a simple variant.

(* This is the version of soon used by professional companies, meaning anytime between 1 second from the posting of this message to the heat death of the universe)

One possible solution: the old PDF's that came out before the AU book:

Way of the Sword (the fighting classes, races and feats)
Way of the Staff (the magical classes, races and feats)
Grimoire (the spells and magic system)

A player should be able to build and run a character with one or two of these PDFs. Over at DriveThruRPG.com, they have the first two for 6 bucks each, and Grimoire for 9.

I finally broke down roughly two months ago and bought the Arcana Unearthed book because I just couldn't imagine not having it anymore. It's almost at the top of my "to read" pile. Not yet opened except to drool over. Diamond throne is still on my "to buy" list, and rising swiftly.

And NOW I find out there's the super extended deluxo Monte's-dream glossy epic favorite gazonga verison on it's way!?!

Curse you, d20 Cthulhu author! Are you TRYING to make me fail a personal sanity check here? *crawls to corner and begins to quietly sob*

That's awesome! Two people independantly decided to use the word "drool" in regards to Arcana Unearthed at nearly the same time.

Well Monte, you can certainly show those Sovereign Press kids how to create a 50 dollar book because this is a book I will buy at 50 dollars. AU is my favorite game evar and I have everything but the adventures (can't find them) and everything i top notch, WOTC run for the money kind of thing. Congrats on making a guy who swore to never spend 50 bucks on a product want a 50 dollar product. I love you Monte, have my babies.

Isn't this from the same idiot who did nothing but bitch about D&D 3.5?

No, if you mean Monte, it's not. That doesn't accurately describe his review of it at all, not even the original version before he added stuff in response to criticisms like that.
