Monte Cook's Arcana Evolved

You know I've always been intrigued by AU, but for one reason or another I've never bought into it. I think I will buy in with this new book. You get the entire core of the game/setting in one book? Nice.

Errata? Epic Levels? More Material? More and better art? 50 $ ?

Damn it, that means I will have to buy it, and to make the financial pain acceptable I will have to continue (or start a new) my Diamond Throne Campaign - I so hoped I could run a D20 Future game with my other shiny new book...

Luckily, it´s out in February, so I can save some money till then...

One of the things I hope it does is add more feats that made it into 3.5. Things like Greater Weapon Focus, Greater Weapon Specialization, do away with Ambidexterity, etc...

Here's basically what I just posted on my own boards:

Hey guys.

Monte, stop.

You had me at "Hey." :)

Thank you for the scoop. It sounds quite... gettable. Which I will be.

I feel positive about this announcement even though it's mostly old material. Of course Monte spinned it just right - not a revision but a directors cut. It's all good though - AU didn't have that high production values, and AE might just fix that.

I would've needed another book anyway for my players .. yeah, that's how I'll justify buying this :heh:

I hope there is a new screen coming out. I plan to get Arcana Evolved, and since it comes with most of the info from the Players Guide that previously came with the screen, I'll have trouble convincing myself to pay that much for the screen and duplicate info.

So Monte, if you're still listening, here's a vote for an Arcana Evolved DM screen.

AU had tremendous production values. Sure, it wasn't color, but it was on very high-quality paper, had a totally drool-worthly dual-texture cover, great art, and some of the best graphic design I've ever seen in a gaming product.

The idea that we'll be seeing a book this cool, but 400+ pages, even *better* art, and full-color is just... mind-boggling.

Is it out yet? :)
