Monte Cook's Arcana Evolved

You know, I'm pretty sure I saw this solicited in Game Trade Magazine last night. Unfortunately, it's in my brother's car trunk right now & he's at work. If anyone has easier access that I do, they might try to grab the information from the magazine. Otherwise, I'll doublecheck and post what I find later tonight.

Well ICV2 says it's a new version of Arcana Unearthed.

And I haven't even had time to use my Arcana Unearthed yet, dammit!

.. I'll buy AE anyway. Hey, maybe it'll at least stop the confusion between UA and AU. Or is there a product shortened to EA or AE already?

Isn't this a little...um...well, hypocritical if it IS just a new edition? I mean, after the whole "WotC is releasing 3.5 too early" then this just seems a bit...wrong.

Hmm... I'm kinda dubious. I think it's much more than AU revised. Hopefully Monte will clarify. I know he probably doesn't want to reveal much about it at this time but it would be good to hear it from his perspective.

It looks like Monte wasn't completely happy with the art of AU. The new full color pieces at his site looks absolutely marvelous. I mean, if I got pictures like that made to my system, I'd re-release and update in no time.

When I first got AU I thought most of it was fantastic, rules-wise. I wasn't too keen on some of the new races, but I'm not too keen on the ones in PHB either so that's a minor gripe. However, I didn't like the art at all. If AE is full color I will need to get it. I'm a sucker for the pretty girls... sorry books.

Moreover, I guess Monte is moving away from the Arcana Unearthed-brand. It was a mistake, in my opinion, to call it that in the first place. Arcana Evolved is much better.

Monte told us at the AU update that the book with that cover was about key word "evolved" and that it would be a sort of event book about something in the West of the Diamond Throne setting, but it would also be like a sourcebook.

I think it is about the return of the Dragons who went into self-imposed exile into the unknown West of the setting.

I can't explain what that cover says on it and what we are told the Sword and Sorcery people said about it, but we obviously don't have the whole story.
