Monte Cook's Arcana Evolved

Monte told us at the AU update that the book with that cover was about key word "evolved" and that it would be a sort of event book about something in the West of the Diamond Throne setting, but it would also be like a sourcebook.

I think it is about the return of the Dragons who went into self-imposed exile into the unknown West of the setting.

I can't explain what that cover says on it and what we are told the Sword and Sorcery people said about it, but we obviously don't have the whole story.

Now THAT is something interesting...hopefully its much more an 'event' type book than just a revision.

The one thing that makes me think that this is indeed an update/revision of Monte's book is that it has on this mock up, "A Variant Player's Handbook."

Mixed feelings about this if it is just a rehash.

If it's a full color book, this may sound strange, but I'm all for it. I'm one of those people on the Ennies team that voted for Mongoose as best publisher. Judge Dread, Bablyon 5, Lone Wolf, and of course Conan, are all names many people outside the d20 or even Roleplaying pool recognize. Coup that with the full color treatment and I wonder if Malhavoc is finally starting to come around to the 'big' boys league if you will. Nothing says confidence like a full color hardback.

That would not surprise me. The issue of confusing the title with UA is a significant enough aggravation that I think a name change would be justified.

Of course, I can't say I have used my existing copy of AU enough that I thinK I would be enticed into buying an update.

Yeah...hopefully there's some serious reason to get this beyond just a revision. Of course, I think I trust Monte enough to know there WILL be...but I'm still a bit worried.
