More animals?

Hi there,

Does anyone know of sources for additional animals for 3.5E? It would be nice to have stats on other common (or uncommon animals) for druid wildshape purposes. There are many animals that have potentially useful characteristics for wildshaping and that a druid might know depending on the campaign (e.g. giraffes (far sight), giant crabs (hard shell and claw attack), jellyfish (stinging tentacles)).

Thanks.

Yea, it often seems like the druid gets the short end of the stick here since we often times limit things in the Animal type to things that exist in our own world. I know when we wrote Guardians of the Underhalls we chickened out of trying to create animals for the subterranean world that obviously never existed here in our world. We opted instead to add vermin to the list of companions a druid could support and shift into. Of course that meant changing some WotC rules and of course that also doesnt really help you in your search for new animals. If you find any, or if anyone else knows of any other significant sources I'd love to hear about them. Druids still remain one of my favorite classes.

I have had the same question. It's hard to find answers from a single source.

Tome of Horrors listed several, although they may need to be updated to 3.5.

Robert Hall's "The Book of Beasts" (hiddenway.tripod.com) has some animals in it as well.

I've also seen "Animal Archives I", for prehistoric animals; the Encyclopedia Monstera had a few; the Monster Anthology and Monster Geographica (Underground) might be of use as well. The netbook of creatures additionally might provide some help, though I don't specifically remember its inclusion of natural creatures.

I know once there was a PDF "preview" product out there that listed a number of animals, like raccoons and lynxes, things overlooked by the Monster Manual. Would that I could remember it, I think it was published by a larger company like Fiery Dragon or whatnot. Sorry I couldn't help more, hopefully those will be a start.

Alternately, you could always rummage through Etools expansions for the "Animal" type.

Whilst checking out Blackdirges Bestiary at RPGNow saw a book of South Aemrican animals advertised and another (by the same company) for Prehistoric Animals - but can't remember who

I know that Swashbuckling Arcana has a bunch of new animals including the snow leopard, as does Frostburn, which has penguins, among other things.

There was another one that had a whole bunch....I think the tome of horrors 2?
