D&D General More details on what to expect from the Player's Guide to the Forgotten Realms from Polygon, Massive Amount of Spells & Feats

... I always hope for the best.

But is it okay that I am a bit ... worried ... that we are being teased the possibility of such epic elements and powerful forms of magic and a massive boost to spellcasting and feat options .... this early in the 5e24 release cycle?

If 5e24 operated as a clean reset of 5e, then the last thing I'd want to toy with is so quickly bringing in a bunch of high-powered options.

Maybe it will be properly balanced and not broken. Maybe it will have the "proper safeguards." I will remain hopeful!
It's probably just going to be rules for circle magic (already confirmed), Spellfire, and maybe some Mythal/elven high magic stuff. Maybe some rules for the Magister and being Chosen of gods at Tier 4 levels. The typical FR stuff that gets updated with each FRCG that comes out, and nothing particularly outlandish.

Now, the Forgotten Realms was never the assumed default Setting for 5E, but it was frequently centered, especially early on. The new Core vols have decentered the FR considerably, so it seems this product is free to get a little bit more into the weeds of older FR lore with stuff like that, since it is not the main example of generic D&D anymore with Greyhawk in the DMG.

I could, but I would still pay for them. I am not ruling that out, but the less content of a book I actually am interested in, the less likely it is that I will get it. Will have to wait and see...

I'm pretty sure the lion share of the book will still be a setting update, it's HUGE setting. This is going to clearly be a big, chunky book.

"Have you heard of Baldur's Gate? The Sword Coast? Icewind Dale and Neverwinter? If so or if not, you will find plenty of coverage in the FR Players Guide."
