Pre-orders are live for the upcoming Forgotten Realms books, with one D&D Beyond listing providing some new details about digital DLC released alongside the books. Posted today on D&D Beyond, the "Forgotten Realms Ultimate Bundle" will include three digital expansions - Astarion's Book of Hungers, Netheril's Fall, and a third "secret" expansion to be named later. The digital expansions will be gradually released over a three week period. Astarion's Book of Hungers will include new player options, while Netheril's Fall will be an adventure book of some kind. Page count is not available, but currently the only way to get these three digital expansions will be through buying the "Ultimate Bundle," which has a whopping price point of $159.99 and includes both physical and digital versions of the other Forgotten Realms books.

What (little) information we know was provided by D&D Beyond and can be seen below:

  • Astarion’s Book of Hungers: a digital expansion where players can indulge in their vampire desires with new player options, monsters, and adventure content – all shared by Astarion himself! | Release Date: November 11, 2025
  • Netheril’s Fall: a digital expansion where players can explore the lost Netherese Empire in a time traveling adventure | Release Date: November 18, 2025
  • A secret third digital expansion – to be revealed soon! | Release Date: November 25, 2025

As I said on another thread, I wonder if these DLCs are a bit of a test run for them to be a recurring feature for expanding the setting, with maybe one to a few each year? The Netheril one seems very much like the old 2e Netheril boxed set, for example. If they keep putting them out, with "mini-setting" coverage for different regions, it would be just like in the old 2e days where you'd get a few 32/64 page booklets each year covering various regions/factions/miscellaneous subjects, just in this case digital and not print. And actually, if that's what they're looking to do, I'd be perfectly happy to keep purchasing them to get that extensive coverage of the setting again - as long as they were of good quality, of course. Heck, this would work in other settings as well - it's easy to imagine a DLC for each of the planes for Planescape, for example.

More details on the dlc(except the third one for now)

Looks like Astarion's Hunger dlc includes 18 more frats and 3 vampiric backgrounds.
By logical deduction, since they revealed in the bundle details that the whole bundle will have 8 Species, we now know from this that the third DLC will have 7 Species options.

Hmmm I wonder which seven species will appear in The dlc.

So far we have Dhampir. Hmmm, Aaracokra and Tabaxi? (If that's Themberchaud the cartoon gang is fighting, then Birbs and Cat people make sense due to them appearing in the movie and JARNATHAN!!)

Let's see...Kuo-Toa and Myconoids(BG3). That's five so far in a hypothetical scenario. Oh, Goblins. Changelings would make sense since Forge of the Artificer is in December now, even if it's an overlap.

It will have seven half-elf variants.
Well, naturally can't break tradition. Has to be seven different Elven variants so we can have the option for said Mutt-Elf variants.
