More than 2 Rings

I was wondering about something...

It seems that there's a bit of a trend to have/allow characters to wear more than 2 magic rings & still be effective. For example:

* There is a pair of magic rings for the War Wizards of Cormyr that only count as 1 "ring" slot, allowing the character to effective have 3 rings (without the need/use of a mage's hand or other magical item).

* Evard from Dungeon #107's Critical Threats has five rings that don't have space limitations. He does have the Craft Ring feat, so it's possible that he made them with those abilities. However, he does have 2 "normal" rings that take up those typical "ring" slots.

What do you think about this? Should it be a rarely-allowed ability for rings to either "share" a ring "slot" on a wearer, or just to not even take up a space at all (though still bestow their powers)? How would it work out if a player wants to create items like these--what would be the costs & spells needed during item creation for these things? Should they be "conditional" items, working like this only if worn by certain people (members of a certain race/class/AL, or only for the creator or the client who requested the rings)?

I think it's a neat little thing to have, but then again, I don't particularly care for the idea of a bunch of villains (or PCs) running around like Marvel's Mandarin.

If you pay the cost you can simply add the powers on to a ring… I have a character that has about 4 powers on one ring… looks something like this:

Ring of Protection +2, Force Shield, Swimming, and Feather Fall (31,550 GP)

The above is legal in normal D&D as all the powers are paid for and it's not as disgusting as a mummified hand.

Its fine as long as the rings cost extra like they do with evard. The pricing rules hve a cost for non-space requiring items for a reason.
