Morpheus and DnD

With the entire explosion of DnD products, both in book and pdf format in this time period (who doesn't have a scanner?) along with ESD release from Wizards, it's absurdly easy to get everything you want without buying it.

I've seen all the Wizard corebooks, accessories, adventures, campaign settings, ESDs, and most of the popular d20 accessories and d20 adventures. All on one server, to boot.

[Edit]

Oh yeah, although the one good strike for buying books instead of downloading them is that you can feel them in your hands (pdf vs. book argument again). Not much, but its something.

People remember game publishers arnt like the music industry.. they dont have a multi-billion pound turn over which is still growing every year... support your game publishers/writers/stores and dont pirate...

And for that matter don't pirate software either...

IMO, the problem not the eplosion of DnD products, or the pdf format for that matter. The problem has always existed, be it for rpg's or other forms of "copyrightable" products. I remember photocopying the AD&D 1st DMG. It took me an awful lot of time, but we ended up having 5 books for 5 players, with only one original. The same goes for music, video tapes, video games,... And to be honest, as long as I had no money to pay for my books, my games, or my CD's, I used copies while never buying the original. However, now that I have some money to invest in my hobbies, I tend to feel that I'm stealing from the publisher of a book if I'm downloading it from the internet. However, if too many people "steal" like this, the net loss will be too high for the publisher and we won't see any new book coming, which would be bad for us. As such, I believe that if you are in a position where you can afford to buy the products, position in which I am now, you'd simply better do it.;)

Well i couldn't find EPH or dieties an ddemi-gods, But i did find the upcomming silverymoon source book, i'm guessing it's a fake though since that book isn't due out for quite a while. Maybe i'll look on limewire.

Maybe you found the fan-made version of Silverymoon (sorry, can't remember the adress right now). Remember that the WotC book will be named "The Silver Marches"...

If you find anything, please let me know, I'm quite eager to have D&Dg and the ELH....

So what does everyone think of the fact that almost every DnD 3E item out there can be found in PDF format on file trading systems like Morpheus?

I don't have any opinion on this, because I don't have Morpheus. Or Kazaa, or gnutella, or any other peer-to-peer file sharing program.

*raises eyebrow*

Just making sure the record is clear?

excuses excuses... you are still stealing.

i know the temptation is terrible... i did napster... i said to myself "hey, i can't find these records anymore, they're out of print..." but then i soon found myself downloading anything i wanted to listen to.

i'm not saying you should feel bad, just admit to yourself you are a thief...

this reminds me of the guy at the party (you know the one) who bums cigarettes off of people and then says, "I'm not really a smoker..."

if you smoke you are a smoker. end of story
