Morrus stay out. Okay, fine, you can come in. Everyone else come in too.

Count me in.

Another idea: a subscription drive?

While that would probably be most useful to Russ financially, it feels a little 'off' to say, "He's getting married, so you should give him money." Giving a specific gift feels more appropriate, in my opinion.

Of course, if you want to buy someone a subscription as a sort of 'spreading the love' gift, more power to ya.

I tend to think of gift cards as cash + inconvenience, but I kind of like Gen Con idea and I would be willing to toss in a couple of bucks.

Cool idea! How about a ladder of possible presents? We collect as much money as possible and get them the most expensive item from the list possible.

Oh, and I hope for PayPal as possible venue for payment. No interest in paying more for the money transfer than for the present.

It's been a long time since I set up a PayPal account. Can you just link an account with any old email address, or do you need to have an actual bank account attached to it? Maybe that's just if you want to withdraw funds, which wouldn't be necessary if whatever we're buying is online.

(Huh, apparently even airlines let you use PayPal these days.)

Either way, to avoid any possible appearances of impropriety, I'd like to hold off on people sending money in until we've got clear price goals.

Apparently we can't even buy Gen Con 2011 tickets this early. I suppose if we shoot for that, we could just pool the money and sit on it, but I'm a tad uncomfortable with that. Does anybody have any other suggestions for gifts?

Give me 'til Tuesday morning to firm up a plan and set up an account and such. I know a lot of people browse at work and don't come to the boards on weekends, so I want to let the Monday crowd have a say before we settle on a plan.
