[Mor's End Discussion] Administration

We've been talking about demographics a lot... and I found this link...

http://3ednd.com/popgen.html

It's a great little utility for generating a city... I believe it's based on the DMG. One thing that's really cool is that it generates names for the local businesses. :)

Looks similar to Jamis Buck's Town Generator:

http://www.aarg.net/~minam/towns.cgi?size=6&seed=

The cool part about Jamis's is that it also generates all the NPC's!! It's got a random name generator and an NPC generator (complete with stat blocks).

Hmm... looks like the 3eDnD.COM generator takes the easy way out: instead of rolling twice for the highest-level member of each class, they just double the number of each.

Ah well, at least my demographics for Mor's End do it the right way! :D

Heya, i've been outta the loop for a bit on the boards and Conail informed me of these city threads. Buttercup, have you gotten the PDF yet?

Yup! All is well. Thanks for asking though. In fact, I'm probably going to buy another copy for a DM friend of mine. (Yeah, I could just copy it for free, but I don't do that. Good work should be paid for.)

And welcome aboard!

Once the Threads make themselves known...as they have over the past few days, the head of that thread should bring all ideas within their assigned category together in one word doc, with the appropriate Minister making the final decision of what is true for Mor's End. We should then post these to the Admin Thread. So, a 20 page thread may end up being a 2-3 page write up. Then, we can start refining the whole as a group.

I had been thinking of something along these lines myself. I'll be working on this starting on Sunday, I hope.

If we work at this steadily throoughout the project, we won't be overwhelmed with work at the end.

I have an idea for a 5 level PrC[...]

should these be posted here or elsewhere...?

IMPORTANT POLICY ISSUE!

If we're tryingto make this a generic resource, should we even have stuff like new prestige classes, new spells, etc? What's next... new races, new feats?

I don't mind the occasional novel magic item or monster. But this sort of stuff seems rather superfluous for a generic city supplement.

Krug, do you want to make some sort of ruling on this one way or another? (Crossposted from the Military thread).

Feats and spells are all right.
I won't dismiss PrCs altogether; however, they should be tied to organizations and their purpose should fit the city or area. I don't think a buccaneer PrC or Duelist PrC would be justified, but something like a Knight of the Middle Circle might be.

I agree with Krug. They simply have to make sense for the area. Personally... I can live without them, but since I'm in a creative mood... here are some possible PrCs...

Elite Guard (assuming the Elite Guard are also trained as spies and assassins)

Sapphire Sorcerer (assuming some sorcerers learn how to channel their arcane powers through the sapphires... 5 levels for each color)

Outland Ranger (assuming your typical Ranger wouldn't work for this group)

Lake/River Pirate (this might just be an NPC class)

Hi, fellow ministers! You have probably noticed that I haven't been around too much this past week. This will probably continue for another week and possibly two. I'm really sorry about this, but it can't be helped.

I'm extremely busy at work, with a number of projects in the stage where my full attention is crucial. And at home, we've been having sporadic problems getting online. We think we have found the source of the problem in our wireless network router, but then, we though we had found the source of the problem two days ago in a bad network cable too. Yesterday I only had internet access for about half an hour. As you can see, I'm on now, and with luck I'll remain so.

But if I vanish for a few days, it isn't because I've abandoned the project. I'm either busy or stuck offline. (The latter is a fate worse than death for an internet junkie like me, I'll tell you.)

I'm leaving on a business trip today. I'll be back Wednesday. Access to EN World will be sporadic, at best... so if anyone needs me for anything, you can e-mail me...

Hello, everyone.
Sorry I've been non-existant for several days.
I already posted this message in my thread:

It seems my computer problems @home are there to stay. I need a backup for my ministership. If said problems persist too long that person might need to take over from me.
Any volunteers? (approval by Krug required)
