[Mor's End Discussion] Administration

Guilds and Organizations thread is open for business!

Hi all!

Please come check out the Guilds and Organizations thread! It's now open for business.

So far I've populated it with the groups listed by Knightfall in his summary, and a bunch of quotes from "A Magical Medieval Society" (thanks, Suzi Yee and Joseph Browning!) Actual content is still to come ;). I also have 4 placeholder posts for additional groups that can be assigned.

Sadly, I paid (via paypal) for this PDF several weeks ago, and still don't have it. I assume I'm supposed to get a special download URL, but so far, nada. In fact, I received an acknowledgement that they got my money last weekend, so I would think the product would be forthcoming. I'll give them a few more days before I start making a scene....

In the meantime, the website Medieval Demographics Made Easy makes things, well, easy. I've got a few other sources I can draw on too.

Heya, i've been outta the loop for a bit on the boards and Conail informed me of these city threads. Buttercup, have you gotten the PDF yet? If not drop me a line at josephbrowning@exp.citymax.com and i'll send you the file via e-mail. Hopefully this has been cleared up by now, but if it hasn't contact me and I'll take care of it. The only thing i know of is that some peoples e-mail has a spam killer and RPGnow.com stuff is sometimes confused as spam. Either way, i show all PDF's as shipped so you should have gotten it by now.

The free PDF preview is the complete city generation system, if any of you guys out there don't have it yet, pick it up. It lists professions, guilds, incidence rates, density etc....

The full PDF goes into depth about the city, kingdom, aristocracy and religion.

Drop me an e-mail, Buttercup, and I'll be joining this thread/city building group shortly :)

That free PDF is sweet! I'll have to give a closer look once I find the time.

Welcome Joe!

Ruavel... I have an assignment for you...

Next week I start holding true NPC contest... a la the recent Iron NPC/DM contests. I'm going to at least 4 ingredients per contest. Ingredients are basically plot devices that must be woven into the NPCs background.

Here's a sample list...

a promise kept
it's getting hot in here
a hammock of trees
green water

I'm going to need help putting a list of ingredients together that I can just randomly pick and choose from. Anyone is welcome to suggest ingredients, but since you asked for it... I'm targeting you, Ruavel.

E-mail me at lalato@yahoo.com

p.s. Good Luck... I hope you kick some arse.

me and my big mouth, huh...?!?

;)

happy to help... I'll start putting a list together and email you additions as they come to me...

do you have any ideas on how many you'd want...?

I'm shooting for a series of contests... Contests will be separated by CR.

Contest 1 = CR 0 - 2
Contest 2 = CR 3 - 4
Contest 3 = CR 5 - 6
Contest 4 = CR 7 - 8
Contest 5 = CR 9+

Each contest will require a minimum of 4 contestants. Assuming 4 contestants, we will need 12 ingredients per contest... more if we get a lot of interest. Again, assuming 4 contestants per contest, 60 ingredients total... again, more if there is greater interest.

Thanks for your help...

I will also post this in ADMIN THREAD.

I agree with Krug, Military should now have it's own thread. Any takers? As pieces of the Govt thread (and others) take on a life of their own they should spring up new threads.

As this city gathers more threads and ideas there will be a need to collect all of this into a managable amount of information. Cohesion must take place at some point. KRUG, how should we administer this? If each thread ends up being multiple pages (10-20 pages long) we need to divide an conquer. My suggestion...

Once the Threads make themselves known...as they have over the past few days, the head of that thread should bring all ideas within their assigned category together in one word doc, with the appropriate Minister making the final decision of what is true for Mor's End. We should then post these to the Admin Thread. So, a 20 page thread may end up being a 2-3 page write up. Then, we can start refining the whole as a group.

Any other ideas on how this could be done?

I think that sounds very good. Perhaps not the admin thread but a seperate thread. What say the ministers?
