[Mor's End Discussion] Administration

I think there is just a momentary lull. When this project started I had much more free time than I currently have.

All of last week I was on a business trip... and preparing for the trip... and dealing with the aftermath of the trip have kept me pretty busy at work.

Add to that the house thing... and I've spread myself pretty thin.

Once I'm settled into the new place... and caught up with some work I'll be back on track and contributing in whatever capacity I'm needed. :)

As to how things should be organized... I agree with GladiusNP. We started out with so many threads and topics of discussion that I think it threw a lot of potential participants off. I think we should now try to focus on one specific thread until we have it hammered out. Then we can move on to another thread.

The Military thread appears to be finished. We should really clear up the Government Affairs thread before we continue on with Guilds and Orgs.

The NPC and Crafts & Trades anc Contest threads don't really need anything right now. At some point I'll go through and do an inventory of what we have thus far so we can see what other types of NPCs we would like to add.

Almost forgot the Geography/Cartography thread. That is pretty much an ongoing thread for now. I think the current maps and images look great... and I can't wait to see more.

Beyond that... I would like to say that I'm still commited to this project. I really like what we've done so far... and I think we can really make a wonderful product for the EN World ocmmunity to enjoy. :)

Yea I got tied up with some stuff and things sort of dried up here. I have a couple of things I have been working on but I am definatly not producing like I was. We need to get some stuff finalized and archived I'd like to see it finished, a lot of work went into it, we just got to get it archived and organized, I will start to work on getting a table of contents and a introduction together, then we can start trying to archive what we got and put it together. Some things can stay works in progress but it needs to all be archived into word documents. Does anybody know anything about making it a PDF?

I agree several things can definitely be "closed".

jdavis has already closed the Military Thread. Other threads that are prime candidates for archiving are the Government, History, and Guilds and Orgs threads.

Of those three the History thread is the closest to being completed. The Government thread should be next... followed by Guilds and Orgs...

For now... NPCs and Crafts and Trade can remain open. After I get settled in my new place, I will harvest all of the various NPCs and create an index. I think the NPC contests have been a great success... and I think we can use them to help flesh out any particular crafts and trades that we feel are "missing" from the current mix.

The Geography thread will have to remain open until it is completely resolved. Once the Gov't, History, and Guilds and Orgs threads are closed... I would like to start an Art thread...

Later,

Yeah you can download PDF995 which converts word docs into a PDF quite easily.

I agree too. I've been quite busy with work but will try to devote more time come June. But thanks all. Some of the stuff has been pretty amazing.

Hang on -- I thought the History thread was completely done. Is there something I've forgotten to do?

Yes... sorry... fusangite... Your history is complete and good. I guess I meant if there was any extra bits of history that needed to be added.

For instance... we still have to contend with the thing that lurks below the city. No one has come up with any history or explanation for that. I'm actually not all that fond of it anymore... but if we're going to include it... we'll need some background for it.... or at least some DM options for how to inlcude it in a game.

Anyway... that's all I meant. Perhaps it should just be a separate thread... "Major Plot Hooks"

Fusangite... What do you think of Lalato's and my own request to make Erekh part of the Kelvin clan (getting rid of this Dyalath figure in the process)? Last I heard, you were going to "wait another week for input". ;)

And how about replacing orcs and gnolls with goblins and hobgoblins and derro with duergar? This was one of your own suggestions. I loved the idea, jdavis pointed out there's lots of goblins around (and at least a mention of hobgoblins) but nobody's mentioned gnolls before, and Tonguez mentioned he hates Derro (dunno how he would feel about Duergar though...)

Please see the MSWord document I posted of the final draft a few posts back in this thread. The above changes have been made.

Tonguez hates subraces on principle so there was no point in changing the Derro to Duergar. I messed around with the demihuman species for a while but I decided that as Orcs are the most common monster I'd name them and not specifically name any other demihuman species, although I do imply that there are other demihumans around.

No need to apologize. I just believe in doing what I do as thoroughly as possible.

"What lurks below" will lose its cachet if we define it much more than we already have. We've made it pretty clear that the dwarves abandoned and bricked-up the undercity for some reason and that there was some kind of settlement on the site a very long time ago. What limited appeal the thing/things below the city has/have will, I think, be undermined by overdefinition.

Anyway... that's all I meant. Perhaps it should just be a separate thread... "Major Plot Hooks"

I guess we could come up with theories about ambiguous things in the history and offer multiple, mutually exclusive explanations of things.

Ah! You mean this one is different from the last version posted in the History thread? If so, I would strongly recommend that you actually post it there in its entirety as well!

PS: I agree we shouldn't overly specify the "Thing That Lurks Below" nor its history. In fact, at one point I suggested we could have a competition on a number of alternative Things that the DM could choose between. That way, we could easily provide for a CoC twist to Mor's End, or a link to further adventures in the Underdark, a passage into the realm of the Drow, an epic level campaign, etc.
