Most gamer friendly hotel in Indy during Gen Con?

I'll throw my hat into the Embassey Suites ring because their room was the best of the three I've stayed at so far. Others were the Omni Severin (not bad at all - only drawback was the lack of extra gamespace) and the Courtyard by Mariott.

Embassey fit an extra gamer for 2 nights, allowed us to host the Canadianananana (Chez Geek) on Saturday, allowed for Hold 'Em in the lobby with plenty of other tables available another night and was still pretty cozy. Not to mention that the cleaning crew worked overtime every day to make sure we had fresh linens/towels as well as a general clean area every time we got back from the Con.

And the walk isn't bad as Psion mentioned. Skywalks are there if needed for the weather.

Sounds like the Embassy is the best place for next year. All of the hotels I mentioned were okay, just little things like elevators that took forever, slow drains in the shower (nothing like standing water in a tub when showering), or a noisy room a/c tend to add up as I get older and more crotchety. ;)

Do NOT stay at the Amerisuites down by the Airport. Especially if a guy named Michael is still a manager there.

Anyone seen/know the dates for GenCon next year?

I didn't find the Radisson particularly good or bad. It's a little bit of a walk, and some other folks I know had some AC problems (minor ones). I had an AWESOME view out my window, and that's worth at least something.

But, the hotel wasn't particularly gamer friendly, and I was not at all happy about the restaurant options in the hotel ($15 for breakfast? I don't think so).

I disagree, my suites lvining room was larger than an Embassy Suite Room (that's combined), the walk was good for me (I'm a gamer I need the exercise) and I found the staff very eager to do what was needed so that we were taken care of. I even had them deliver a package to the room on Thursday morning at 0730 (I forgot something I needed for that afternoon) and they were nothing but gracious.

Frankly, with the exception of the Hyatt, I'm not sure where else I would have wanted to stay. (Sorry, the Embassy just didn't do it for me.)

Thus far, I've stayed at both the Omni and the Marriott. Both are good hotels with great service, but other than the lemonade in the Marriott lobby, there is nothing free. Buffet breakfast can run you around $15, but it is very filling, and you can easily forgo lunch.

As far as gaming, I think the Omni has a small gaming area with couches/nice chairs, but no large tables. Never made use of it myself, but I've seen other people playing games there. I don't recall seeing anything at the Marriott.

I've enjoyed my stay at both hotels, but I might try another hotel next year just for variety.

Is that official or just using calendar-fu? I don't want to go and make reservations for the wrong dates.

I stayed at the Hilton this year, so it was obvious why it rained. Moreover most of my friends were in the Omni so I tended to be with them there as oopsed to them being with me in the Hilton, although I do think the room was generally well suited towards gaming.

The business center, which had free wireless, was generally small, hot and stuffy.

I'll probably stay there next year, but then again, I get Hilton Honors points for going there.
