Most iconic spaceships?

A lot more people worldwide are going to recognize Space Battleship Yamato than TARDIS, that's for sure. I'm not sure that North Americans appreciate how iconic it is. On the other hand, Star Wars and Star Trek? Probably not as big as you think, outside the English-speaking world.
Likely Arcadia is also right up there.

I have heard the word, but if you showed me a picture of the Yamato I would't be able to name it. I'm not 100% sure what it is other than it's in a cartoon of some kind. Is it an anime thing?

I guess I'm biased as I can't imagine anybody in the UK not recognising the TARDIS, even if they hate Doctor Who. But I can accept I'm in a (large) bubble.

It is an anime.
It basically is the WW2 ship Yamato turned into a space ship.

I think if we somehow could do a global survey, I'd say the space shuttle, the Enterprise and either the X-Wing or Millennium Falcon would far outstrip the recognition of anything else mentioned here.

I mean, I've been a nerd for decades and several of the ships people are championing here, I've never even heard of. I'd say the odds of a man on the street in Singapore or Johannesburg or even Chicago recognizing them is pretty low, which suggests they're not actually a contender for "most iconic."

The Yamamoto was the main ship in Star Blazers which was probably the first wildly popular anime outside of Japan. (I remember seeing it in the US in the 1970s.) While it's probably in the top 10 most recognizable ships, it's a big drop off from the top four or five.
