Most Unusual Party...

Methuslah

First Post
I’ve just been looking back over my old notes from past campaigns, and I came across one short one I had forgotten (perhaps my memory repressed it), where the players decided to play a rather unusual group – three Centaurs (my notes do not record their classes) and a Paladin. (Yes, the Paladin did ride one of the Centaurs!) I was somewhat less restrictive back in those days as regards character classes, it seems. I was just wondering what was the strangest group of PCs that anyone has ever seen assembled. I’m sure someone out there can beat this rather tame example!

My current group is kinda, well, not WEIRD, but unusual, and I find it quite hard to construct adventures for them:

(Evil group) a rogue, a rogue/assassin and an invoker.

Of course, that won't beat (I can't remember who, but it wasn't too long ago) the party in which one of the members was reincarnated as a swarm of bees (can't get over that one).

I think it was my old 2E Forgotten Realms campaign.

We had...

Argyle (like the socks) - a Male Human Crusader (Tempus) who had a knack for getting in trouble, from being blind for half the campaign, to staring down a bear and being trounced only one day after leaving the temple infirmary. Argyle was later reincarnated as a horse, and served as a getaway when Damir and Faraval ripped off a temple of Tymora. Yes, the goddess of luck.

Damir - a Male Human Thief who, unfortunately, was incredibly obsese. It made for bad thiefing, so I eventually let him lose some weight from all their escapades.

Aerick - a Male Human Ranger who was probably the only voice of reason in the group.

Scott - a Male Human Fighter whose player wasn't quite sure which dice were which, which made for some strange damage totals.

Faraval - a Male Elf Rogue with the most unoriginal player ever. How so? His next character was named Lavaraf.

Maybe I'll write up a SH someday. :D

My current group (ECL 2):

A gnoll ranger
An aasimar priest (hong's version of cleric)
A tiefling rogue
A human wizardress
A human fighter
A dwarven fighter,
and a (high) elven ranger.

The party is kind of a freak show already, but other reasons make their grouping all the more unlikely:

The fact that aasimar and high elves are extremely extremely rare in my world (to the point that no body recognizes them for what they are) and that the tiefling (this race is actually fairly common in my world) and gnoll are both more or less "good" makes for a menagerie of characters who's chance of being thrown together is like one in a million.

The other weird thing is that the gnoll is "dwarf-friend," and is one of only a handful of people to have been taught Dwarvish language.

The "common races" of my world btw are: humans, dwarves (not too common), orcs, half-orcs, and goblins.

One of the few games I'm a PC in, we're playing a game using Savage Species...all of us are only 2nd level(using Monster Classes).

Bastard Sword weilding Mind Flayer(me :D)
Extremely low Intelligence Frost Giant
A Rakshasa
A Succubus
And a Hamatula

As I expected from the start...we've divided into little camps within the groups...the Succubus and Hamatula have thier own problems, while my Mind Flayer and the Rakshasa are just waiting to betray the rest then kill each other off. The Forst Giant is just kind of in the middle. :)

In an OD&D game I played a long time ago, we had many, many deaths in one adventure. Unfortunately, all we had available was reincarnate. I was the lucky one, I went from being an elf, to a human and actually played the character for a long time. I can't remember what the other guys became, but none of them were playable. It was just me, the wizard, and a bunch of animals at the end of that one.

Well..

A gully dwarf monk. "You were beaten up by...a what?"
A kender paladin. "What do you mean I stole it? I would never steal. Are you calling me a liar?"
A hill giant shadowdancer. "I hide in plain sight."
A minotaur bard.
An ogre cleric.

Hahahahaaha....you guys got nothign on my OOZE CAMPAIGN! ;)

Half-Celestial Gelatinous Cube Cleric
Gelatinous (from Savage Species) tielfing monk
A Slithering Tracker Rogue
A dun pudding barbarian
And...
The wizard, a Half-Ooze boar illusionist.

There were some very....innnnteresting....events with that 3-parter. :)

I think I can beat all of that.

Female Minotaur Fighter/Gladiator who happens to think she's God's gift to the male gender.

A pyromaniac male Pixie with levels of bard, rogue, and spymaster.

A male satyr fighter/rogue/ranger that carts around a Daern's Instant Fortress full of magic stuff. He also has a pair of pipes, but has absolutely no ranks in perform. His favorite strategy with the pipes was to use his unicorn cohort to lure a local lady from a village and then attempt to seduce her with his (horrible) pipe playing.

And last but not least, Stumpy, a male halfling rogue/monk who had no legs. He was thoroughly convinced that he was the world's greatest fighter.

I've got some other ones, but I have to find all of my old notes.
