Mounted Combat Question

The balance issue is that since the rider is more vulnerable to various attacks -- AoE spells, harder to gain cover, easier to charge, etc., it is only fair to allow the rider to gain the positive side effects of the simplification. Just two sides of the same coin. No, it is not logical. But doing it differently would just add rules that would not really improve the game.

The RAW do not give mounted combatants nearly as big an edge as would be realistic anyway. Let them have this odd benefit.

Then there is a further extreme, my party recently acquired a gargantuan monsterous scorpion... That's a lot of spaces you threaten. 20'x20', 20 squares total. I have to say I'm treating that thing as terrain when they get it in battle.

Oops, forgot to mention that it is skeletal.
