Movement and Partial Actions...

Well, not according to the "all movement must be in a straight line for the entire round with a charge" ruling.

Sorry, KD; I wasn't being clear. This is exactly what i meant.

Yes, but that's controlled with only the tiniest bit of discretion and abuse-avoidance in readied actions. You need that even without my view on Charge.

Artoomis, I disagree. Although my example was extreme, it's easy to come up with a standard readied-action-trigger that would work for the move-and-ready-a-partial-charge trick. "I'll partial charge the first of my opponents who moves within range," if the opponents are closing into combat with you. "I'll partial charge the first of my opponents within range who attacks anyone," would also work. Most DM would accept "I'll do my readied action against the first of my opponents who makes a hostile move to me or my friends" as a valid trigger. All of these would allow the trick to work.

Secondly -- and I'm not disputing you on this point, just curious -- what are some other in-combat circumstances under which silly triggers for readied actions can be abused? I don't know of any.

Third, the question of whether a hasted character can move as the partial action and then charge is, I think, unanswered. I'm slightly inclined against allowing it: IMO, haste is overpowered as is, and is cast IME more than all other third-level arcane spells combined, with most battles beginning with two haste spells cast. I don't see any reason to add any more power to hasted characters.

Were it a little-used fourth-level spell, I'd be more amenable to allowing the tactic.

Actually, you were totally clear. I just zoned somehow when I read what you wrote and missed the first paragraph completely. Guess I need more caffeine.
