My understanding is that Adkinson gave the 3E team his own extensive houseguest as a barometer on how the new Edition should work, based on that playgroup.

The whole article is an extremely fun read, probably the best article I've ever read on Dragon+ (not saying a lot, they're articles aren't amazing). Lots of fun details, like how the Elder Dragons are from their campaign (including I assume, Nicol Bolas).

This counterspell is blowing my mind. Legit autoinclude in most of my blue decks, a 3 mana hard unconditional counter with an alternate mod? Damn. And at Common?!?!

3 mana unconditional hard counters are usually just bad, even with an upside. But the loot 2 alternate mode might make this a solid pick.
