Um, wasn't one of the reasons why WOTC got back into the adventure-producing was the realization that there WASN'T that many OGL adventures being produced.

My bad. I forgot about the concept of the loss leader. Adventures may not sell well compared to splat books, but what good are splat books if there's no adventure for a twinked out hero to go through?

Modules are often mony sinks. But they can be profitable if they are well produced and marketed, and in any case, some modules are needed as a level of customer support.

Something else I forgot. See Paizo for the most obvious example of this in action. Ironically, their Core Rulebook is the "customer support" item for their line of adventures.
