Sick bastards. Let's put them on a grill and see how much THEY like it....

So let's try and put this thread a bit more on topic... What were those sick bastards doing to the kitten? Why? My guess is sacrifice to dark gods...second would be that they really hate cats like the peolple in that TERRIBLE Stephen King movie Sleepwalkers.

I can only imagine what's going to happen to that sicko in his next incarnation. As for this one, I hope he gets thrown into the deepest, darkest hole of a prison with a whole bunch of inmates that happen to be animal lovers.

I'm terribly upset by the actions of those people.

However, in my experience adolescent males have a tendency to desire the destruction of animals. Only a small percentage actually acts on that desire and most settle that conflict when they leave adolescence.

Obviously adults who derive pleasure from maiming animals have issues and the perpetrator should be evaluated but the bystanders…

Well, you’d be amazed what some studies have shown groups of people to be (in)capable of.

On a more emotional note: If I were to punish that guy, it would be a hot poker up the sphincter.

Personally, I hope the prat's skull get's violently twisted away from the surrounding flesh by the heaviest industrial means possible, with the aftermath landing all over the twisted idiots that decided burning an animal alive was akin to 'caberet'

Telor,

The story identifies the person charged with the crime as Charles C. Benoit, 24. He is not an adolescent.

The story made me feel nauseated. I would have gladly taken in the kitten at least to give to a good home or a good shelter.

Let's say that I hope that Mr. Benoit will be thrown in jail. Better yet, throw him UNDER the jail.

I think someone should round him up, build a giant hibachi, and throw him on it. Then they can poke him with sticks.

Anyone else miss the good old code of hammurabi?

Although I agree that what this man did was abominable, I think there is a certain amount of irony to this issue...in that (from what I gather) cats quite cheerfully "play with" (read: torture) mice and the like.

Wild cats will kill their play immediately. The best answer I have about cats playing with their prey is that mopst domestic cats are not fully trained hunters. In other words, they don't exactly know what they are supposed to do.

The man accused in the incident is an adult male. So, what is his excuse?

Rounser it is true that cats will play with living/almost dead/dead prey. The thing is that animals cannot reason lie huamns can (it is assumed anyways, science may eventually prove differently) in at least a D&D sense they are true neutral. So a cat doing this is reasoned to be honing it's hunting skills etc. While a 24 year old man doing this just needs to get some serious freaking help and a dishonorable discharge from normal society. Torturing the helpless is a sickness. There is no value gained from it. It is vandalism on the grandest scale. We can only hope someone finds what causes this behavior and figures out a way to humanely squelch it. Not Brave New World stuff, or Clockwork Orange stuff, but humane elimination of cruel, viscious, unnecessary waste such as illustrated by the sad tale of Lucky. May someone find a cure for the inhuman nature of humankind.

If reading the story wasn't bad enough looking at the picture of the kitten after reading it made me cry, yes cry. I am an animal lover and by far cats are my favorite. I have 2 cat companions, yes I treat them better then humans.

As for that monster that did such a thing and the others watching and laughing at it. Well they should all be subject to the type of torture Raistlin had to take in the Abyss. No less, and even more.
