Multiclass from paladin after 3rd level?

Take Divine Might, enhance your charisma (item or spell), multiclass for one level of Cleric, take good domain powers if you can and then go back to Paladin (not normally allowed, I know). You now have increased your turning attempts and off you go. Add a feat like Extra Turning and use Divine Might every combat. Add Bless Weapon, maybe Improved Critical, a Smite once in a while and you should do some nice damage.

I would love to try this in Living Greyhawk where I play a 6th level Human Paladin of Mayaheine but I can´t do it there (makes me want to play in the FR and be a Paladin of Torm).

Wasn't there a sidebar in the FRCS which allowed some paladins of certain gods to multiclass ? I think paladins of Torm can multiclass freely in one other class. May be wrong.
With a WIS of 12 I would stay with paladin. By some time bring WIS to 14 so that you can cast 4th level spells. But your main interest should be CHA. Even in respect to skills (diplomacy) this would help. Divine Might as often mentioned is very good to balance the paladin vs. the fighter. High CHA means many points with lay on hands: (Su) no attack of opportunity ! It's a real life saver for your friends.
Greatsword, bless weapon, holy sword is very good. Perhaps Improved Crit can make this even better.

I played a Fighter 10/Ranger 4/Paladin 5 (Torm) and I had a lot of fun.

Yah, the Wisdom of 12 really limits your abilities as a cleric. Even if you'd be focusing on buffs & heals, you'll be losing out on bonus spells, and once you hit your 14th character level (11th level cleric), you'll be denied access to spells that you would otherwise be able to cast. Granted, you may not be planning on ever getting to that high a level.

No biggy, get a stat boost item. A 14th level PC could afford a +1 or +2 Inherent bonus (via Wish) if it is really important to him.

The bonus spells and DC is not really all that important to a multiclassed cleric who primarily fights. They are sure nice to have, but he will not be casting all that many spells in combat once the fighting begins.

If you want 1 level of cleric take it prior to becoming a paladin (been there and done that) It does help in some areas but being a pure paladin really does pay off over 20 levels
