Multiclass problems

First Post
a player in my campaign just made a character to be like Wolverine. It ended up being a 6th level fighter/ 3rd level rogue/ 1st level ranger.

in the PHB it reads that a ranger with a +9 BaB gets improved two weapon fighting. However, i dont think his Character is considered a ranger considering it is his lowest class. Is there anything in books or SRD that can clarify this for me?

By the wording, it's true - like how a Bard 1 / Rogue 15 with 19 ranks in Perform has access to the powerful Bardic Music abilities (though only once per day).

From what we've seen of the 3.5 Ranger, they've tidied up the language a bit.

because the ranger doesn't ACTUALLY get two weapon fighting and ambedexterity, he could therefor never get improved two weapon fighting. But that text means for all intents and purposes, the ranger has two weapon fighting and ambedexterity, and therefor can qualify for improved two weapon fighting.

Yeah - make sure you understand the difference.

The Ambi and TWF virtual feats at 1st level are "free".

To get ITWF, he has to spend a true feat slot... and if he ever wears the wrong armor, he loses access to that feat until he takes it off.

So, IOW, what that says is that since a ranger fights like if he has two weapon fighting and ambidexterity then if he chooses he can take the Improved feat as long as he has a BaB of +9.

Yup.

Basically, this became a general rule in one of the splatbooks - Sword and Fist? - that says if a class feature emulates a feat, it counts as a prerequisite for other feats.

But before that was printed, the Ranger needed a special note to say it was allowed.
