multiclassing problem

First Post
Currently I'm a level 6 Ninja (Rogukan Core Class). I am going to take the shadowdancer prestige class when I reach 7th. I was looking down the road a little and noticed that the shadowdancer gets Uncanny Dodge as a class ability. But I already have that as the Ninja. Seeing how they do the same thing (can't be caught flat footed or flanked) they can't stack (or can they?). Do I just skip right over that ability when I reach that level as a shadowdancer? Is there anything I can get as a replacement becuase missing a whole ability is not good when you could have had something else (especially a great ability like uncanny dodge). Are there any rules for situations like these?

You will combine your ninja and Shadowdancer levels together to determine the ability of uncanny dodge. So, they do stack in that way.

Rules for this are at the end of the classes chapter under Multiclassing. The PHB gives the example of barbarian rogues.

Speaking more generally, overlapping abilities is one of the risks of multiclassing. The Monk/Rogue is a pretty good multiclass combination-but you don't get anything to replace the overlap of the Evasion ability between the classes.
