Multiclassing to Vestige Warlock

I have a Shaman Player who's Spirits are ancestor-Warriors that he calls upon (Priest of a Ancestor-Religion). The Vestige Warlock would fit perfectly for calling upon the more famous ones and I want to suggest multiclassing with a Vestige-Warlock, but I have no Idea if this is even duable.

There are two multiclass feats, one give you the curse for one hit and the other the at-will from one of the pacts (and lets you count for that pact for the Paragon Paths). But all these (as far as I understand) does not give you the Vestiges itself, so the vestige Powers are quite useless for multiclassing or am I wrong?

That depends. If you have the at-will Eyes of the Vestige, then you get the augment for it based on vestige dailies you've used. What you don't get is the pact boon, nor the base two vestiges. And if the vestige power has an effect you like without the vestiges, it's an effect you like, so no problem.

But you're not gonna get the whole enchillada.

I just tried to recreate my old binder with a MC vestige warlock and it didn't work too well. You definately have to choose warlock to get the main stuff the vestige pact is offering...and unfortunately the base warlock doesn't have enough base melee in it for me.

Talk your DM into allowing Eldritch Slide (You'll have to house rule add a power in the Character Builder) to replace Eldritch Strike. Dual Pact Helllock. Grab Dwarven Weapon Training, a Pact Hammer, Hammer Rhythm, Bracers of Mighty Striking, and go to town. Works fine. :)

I believe there's a 11th level feat to actually acquire a pact... at which point things should work out a lot better?

Its a great main warlock feat, but the major problem with multiclassing into warlock is that you can't get the at will curse....and the warlock is all about the curse. The one multiclass feat that gives you curse 1/encounter just doesn't cut the mustard.

I will say though, that with those new powers that give different bonuses to different pacts, there's nothing that states that the warlock can't get the benefits of both pacts at once with a given power.

Depending on how much of a tinker-er DM you are (and whether you have DDI) ...

One solution would be to work out what the "Hybrid"* versions of the Vestige Warlock and Shaman would be. And if your player likes it, let him play that.

Good Luck,

Graethynne

*WotC put out the Hybrid rules as a playtest in DDI last month. Basically, hybrid characters are a pretty even blend of the two constituent classes with some of the features of each and the ability to gain more. If you'd like to know more "read the book" (or in this case check out DDI).
