D&D 5E Multiple personalities PC

I did something like this a long time ago (in a different RPG). When the PC went to sleep, his non-dominate side woke up and took control of the body until the PC would awaken. I didn't tell the PC what was happening, as it was the result of a fairly evil twist based on the game's mechanics, but he would occasionally wake up in strange locations. His evil side eventually became the villain for the campaign when it made a deal with a hag to setup the party for destruction.

Another idea would be to create Legion, son of Charles Xavier, as a PC (best suited for one-shots and less serious games). You roll after each Long Rest to see which personality takes over for the day. That personality has it's own Class and mental abilities, but Str, Dex, and Con stay the same. You'd probably have to earn XP for each personality though ;)

Ask the player what's their endgame - what are they expecting to happen when the other players discover what is happening.

Do all their characters kick his or her character out of the group? Kill them? Imprison them?

What are they going to do when other players say, "Look, this is really irritating, you ned to change the character." (Something I've seen myself).

How do they plan to to deal with a player who says, "You've been lying to us, playing an evil character in secret. I don't want to game with you any more."

He actually said he based this character on legion. I don't get it because I don't read or watch legion.

Alternatively, instead of making a dual personality character, you can just punch your fellow players in the face every few minutes. Just as much fun to the rest of the group.

Ah. I've not watched the show yet, but in the comics Legion had hundreds of personalities, each of which had it's own mutant power (it started with only 3, but later writers kept adding more and more). He would have been one of the most powerful mutants in the universe, except that he couldn't consistently access all his powers. Also, he was bat-$%^& crazy.
