Munchkin Planet... Anyone for Werebears ?

First Post
Well at ECL +4 only and with bonuses like +16 STR and +8 Con. Has anyone ever allowed a Werebear in their game ?

18 Str base creature would have 34 str ! +12 bonus I think...

That thread died off before even starting to discuss the werebear... :(

Funny that we dont see Werebear in any smackdown threads... I like the roleplaying aspect and possibilities of a 'good' aligned lychanthrope. Rules wise its a nightmare of abuse thou.

No werebears, but I do play a weretiger monk in a campaign. The +12 strength in hybrid form kicks butt, and he certainly does have a lot of style, but the loss of HP, the comparatively poor saving throws, and lack of class abilities hurts.

Synicism... is your PC balanced with the group ? Do they feel he is too over the top ? In other words is it workable ?

Send me some basica stats of your character please... curiosus

In addition to the disadvantages Synicism mentioned (the loss of HD really hurts), the werebear in particular lacks any sort of hybrid form. That means your uber-strength is only really good with their not-especially-cool natural attack sequence. And grappling, I suppose... they don't call 'em bear hugs for nothing. :D

Grappling with those bonuses and that much Stregth make any attack "cool"... I have a player who was thinking of making a rogue weretiger... naturally the high dex was a temptation for him... hehe
