Murder is the Pits

Sweet, that's 33 out of my pocket then (Covering Ironwolf's laps).

Any news on that armor, and does the priest have any input on the beasties?

"My friend here and I seek the healing hand of Grendath for wounds we aquired durring combat earlier today before we pay our due respects." Vanitri replies.

Once the cleric is tending to our wounds, "I hear that some gladiators fight some of the various beasts that have been brought to the pits for combat. How do those fights usually fare?"

"Well, its certainly rare that the beasts win, but also rare that all the gladiators involved leave the ring under their own power. The betting office rarely even offers odds on the question of the beasts vs the glads, they offer odds on whether a particular glad will end the fight standing up, or on a group for longer odds." the preist heals vanitri and ironwolf for 10 hp each for a total of 40 gp. "Saw your fight today. Not a bad debut. But you should use the early moments to move out into the ring. The crowds like to see you move around."

OOC: Yes, and Yes, all in due time. Vanitri wants to find out how long it would take to get a Mithril Chain Shirt, and if they want the entire sum up front if it is not immediately available. Other than that, he will attempt to get some information about the beast battles.
Due to the demand from the Pits, specialty armors are fairly available in Earling. If you were flexible in ornementation, and checked a couple of shops, it seems likely you could get a mitheral chain shirt that had been special ordered and then abbandoned by a gladiator whose fortunes changed.

"I thank you much for your input, and we can hopefully make it a better show as well as a good victory." he says as he pays the cleric.

Vanitri will look around and price them for now (unless he sees a deal he can't refuse) and will hunt around for info on beast fights beyond the clerics words. (Gather Information +4)

Ironwolf also wants to sick his pet rock on the gladiator who aproached him after the first match. While his behavior seemed friendly, Ironwolf is concerned that the friendliness may have been an attempt to mask more devious things. The psicrystal will sneak about listening in on whatever it can. It will give Ironwolf regular updates telepathically, and will let him no immediately if it observes anything suspicious. Can I also find out the fellow's name, and whether he has any connection to Ironwolf's "groupie?"

I will need hide and move silently stats for the psi chrystal please. The man one on of the twins so he was either Clack or Click.

The psicrystal has a +6 to move silently (4 ranks +2 dex) and a +14 to Hide (0 ranks, +2 dex, +12 size bonus.)

If pressed, the psicrystal will pretend to be a small, inert, and inanimate crystal. It'll also telepathically scream for Ironwolf's help if things go wrong.

To find that sort of mundane healing supplies, you would have to go outside the arena into the market. At the temple within the arena, there are a few gladiators lighting candles and otherwise paying their respects, including Ron, the older gladiator who you met last night. There are a few rpeists, and the one who Ironwolf spoke to earlier spots him and comes over. "Good day sir, do you seek additional comfort from Grendath, or have you just come to pay your respects?"

(Is vanitri going to pay to get himself and Ironwolf brought up to full?)

(also is anyone planning to gather info on the beast fight for the next day?)

Michael wanders over to the temple and nods professionally, if a little coolly. There's a balance between professional courtesy and totally opposed alignments/portfolios that needs to be walked there, so he doesn't hang around long.
If Vanitri wants to go shopping with him, he will amble around, look for a good price on armor, and cruise the herbalists shops, explaining to the proprietors he's trying to earn a little extra money by serving as a ring doctor, and generally haggling bulk purchases of herbs: willowbark for aches, plaintain leaves for compresses, bloodfree to lighten bruises and reduce scarring, aloe for minor scrapes and cuts...
(Subtle, huh :)?)
Many herbalists should look askance at bulk purchases of bloodfree. That's good, to Michael's mind.
But one person should be willing to sell it anyway. That person needs to investigated carefully.
"Well I ran to the Rock. I said, "Hide me, Rock.
Please protect me Rock! On the Judgement Day"
If Rosalynn knows the tune and picks it up, musicians everywhere will be happier.

Rosalynn, not in need of healing, tags along with Micheal, sticking closely to him. She purchases a few more small bits of wool and looks at a few scraps of cloth to perhaps repair her dress...but they are a little too costly.

She listens to Micheal's song and picks up the tune...she vaughly remembers learning it...but never forgets the tune itself, just a few of the lyrics. She sings along with him, waiting for him to sing a few more of the words so that she can jog her errant memory. She smiles at him encouragingly.

The faint tuneless lyrics drift back over Michael's shoulder as he passes through the crowd

Oh, sinner man, where you gonna run to?
Oh, sinner man, where you gonna run to?
Oh, sinner man, where you gonna run to?
Oh, sinner man, where you gonna run to all on that day?

Well I ran to the river.
I hied me to the river.
I begged "Please help me river!"
On that Judgement Day.

Oh, sinner man, where you gonna run to?
Oh, sinner man, where you gonna run to?
Oh, sinner man, where you gonna run to?
Oh, sinner man, where you gonna run to all on that day?

But the Rock would not hide me.
And the River flowed by me.
And the Lord stood above me
On that Judgment Day.

Oh, sinner man, where you gonna run to?
Oh, sinner man, where you gonna run to?
Oh, sinner man, where you gonna run to?
Oh, sinner man, where you gonna run to all on that day?

(More the Nina Simone son from the Thomas Crowne Affair remake than Bablyon 5...sorry to disappoint. Then there's the bits I make up)

Rosalynn sings the tune, remembering now the song she'd learned a few years back. She sings it again, nearly drowning out poor Micheal (or perhaps he's stopped singing? *lol*) and taking the tune in her lilting mezzo-saprano, her heart into the performance.

She keeps up easily with Micheal as she sings, a few people stopping to look at her as she passes.
