Music for Post Apocolyptic game

Godspeed you black emperor!
World's end girlfriend

I have personally used akira in my creepy games, specifically 'Battle against the clowns' as the themesong for some drug-addicts turned horrible slime monsters.

I'll second Dannyalcatraz's suggestion of Godflesh (mechanized metal with dissonant downtuned guitar work, venturing into breakbeats and dub territory, with yelled vocals)

Chu Ishikawa - Tetsuo - The Iron Man Soundtrack, metal percussion workouts with minimal guitar

Pan Sonic - any album, sine tones warring with deep bass over sharp beats, while tv signal static dances and cheers

Zombi - any album, just old school synth, bass and drums, for a more bizarre sci-fi feel

Isolrubin BK - Crash Injury Trauma - if you can find it, the sounds sourced are auto-crash tests/accidents. Iron crunch techno with some vocal samples.

Imminent Starvation - distorted beat techno (or pretty much anything on the Ant Zen label.)

Throbbing Gristle - any album, listen, and think... Yes, this is the end...

Ack!

I mentioned Godflesh and forgot to mention Broadrick's current band, Jesu.

Its in a similar vein to Godflesh, but a tad more subtle to my ear.

Ministry's TWITCH (particularly "The Isle of Man") and PSALM 69.

The latter half of the original soundtrack to FULL METAL JACKET - all synth work done by Kubrick's wife. Discordant, jarring, appropriate.

Aphex Twin's "Come to Daddy"

The (very hard to find) original soundtrack to THE SHINING.

The (equally very hard to find) original soundtrack to TETSUO THE IRON MAN.

For quiet moments, the original soundtrack to PATLABOR THE MOVIE 2.

Hm. There must be some I'm forgetting, but that's always a good start.

Aphex Twin's "Come to Daddy"

I would say Windowlicker is an even better choice:

After the opening skit it's entirely instrumental, unlike Come to Daddy.

There is a Deadlands: The Wasted West soundtrack; I think it's called Toxic Tunes, that is pretty good for post-apoc style settings.

If you can find it. I have a copy, but I ain't givin' it up. :-P
