The large creatures stand still, as if statues at Clyde's words, watching. They make no attempt to leave their area, despite the fact the door set in the bars is open.

"Damn creepy these folk are..." Slade said obviously unnerved by the Creatures. He kept his crossbow at the ready but risked a glance at the controls.

OOC: Slade has a fairly high Int and is Human so he will attempt to figure out the controls.

Grub looks for a chair or someplace out of the way where he can sit without danger of touching any of the technology. "These egg-heads are creepy," he says agreeing with Slade.

Deathvine gives a slight bow toward the assembled brainiac congregation. Indicating its "face" area with a tangled mass of vines continues. "Can you speak at all from behind those teeth type growths on your heads? Or from anywhere else?" It funny since Deathvine's multi-throated choir of voices comes from everywhere except its facial area. The plant steps inside the control room and then to side to make room for the other brainy pincher-type mutant that was shuffling on behind them.

The creatures merely shake their heads slowly at Deathvine, and continue to watch the party without responding.

Slade looks the controls over. One side of the U shaped desk is charred, with a large black scorch mark obscuring some of the dials and knobs. Some in fact, he notices, are melted.

The rest of the desk is divided into sections. The first labelled "Doors" has knobs that indicate locked or unlocked. They are notated as Front, Control Room, Holding Pen, Armory, and Sleep Chamber.

The next panel is labelled "Cameras". They are marked numbers 1 through 5, with labels indicating up, down, left and right.

The final panel is labelled "Indicators". This panel is composed of 24 lights, all of them dark save for the single light blinking red, on and off, persistently. The lights are accompanied with many different words next to them, some of the words straightforward like "intruder alert" while some are more esoteric like "conduit A overflow".

The blinking light is marked with the words "sleep chamber unsecured".

As the plant has no connection to technology, it completely ignores most of the console. The red flashing light does garner some slight interest however. "What type of little bug glows that color? We like it quite a bit. Can we eat it, or will it try to eat us?"

Grub squints at the light. "Is that a bug?" He pokes it with one thick finger and since no one has objected (yet) he starts to enjoy his new freedom to mess with technology and starts poking indicator lights and buttons in an attempt to figure them out.

[sblock=OOC]I forget if Alvordian was rolling for us or if we were using Invisible Castle...
If IC, then: Tech roll 1d100-5=11  That's Grub for you![/sblock]

Weird...

Can't say as I like it much here.

Keeping a close eye on the creatures Clyde decided to take a closer look at the large cabinets that stood to one side. He moved slowly across the room, like a man afraid he'd spook a dangerous animal, then tried the cabinets one after the other.

Alecto quickly swatted Grub's paws and said, "Be careful. Don't touch anything."

She inspects the controls, reading the labels each in turn. After a second she looks up and says, "The machines here are saying there's something wrong with a place called the 'sleep chamber.' Maybe we should check it out."

Grub looks briefly startled but accepts Alecto's right to tell him what not to do. "Sleep? But we haven't had dinner. I thought we were having dinner." He sighs dramatically and cautiously watches Alecto to see what sort of reaction he'll get from her. "So where is the sleeping chamber?"
