Mutants & Mastermind Presents – “Astonishing Tales of Centropolis”

Kitsune erupted into delighted peals of laughter at Death Magnet's threat.

"Well, you'd better start soon, or you'll be at it all night!" she taunted, and arms began sprouting from her shoulders and sides. Each one wove sinuously about like some kind of Hindu religious icon...with each hand making a different rude gesture.

"Lets face it though, lets face FACTS! You can't even touch me!"

The 'gun' was long gone by now, but the laser beam stabbed out again, this time from one of the image's hands!

[roll0] to attack, base DC 23, plus multiattack.

Two hundred feet in the air, Miranda kicked to a stop and looked over the chaotic scene.

Just what the heck was going on down there anyway? She could see all kinds of wreckage and destruction- and even from up here she could see smoke rising, and a lot of people down, some of whom were not moving. It looked like the emergency response units were all around the edges, but couldn't get in to where the damage was the worst, where the casualties were the thickest.

And that might not be a bad thing- because from up here, Miranda could see several people who all looked like metahumans, and there were apparently having a fight. Definitely not the best situation to walk into, even for trained emergency personnel.

Miranda tugged at her mask, making sure it was in place, and pulled the hood of her sweatshirt a little tighter as she tried to make some sense of what was going on.Obviously she had to step in here, had to help. But who were the good guys, and who were the bad guys? And had any of those metahumans down there actually caused this disaster? They certainly weren't helping things...

[sblock= OOC]
Now that she is on scene, Miranda will assess what is going on. Move action to redistribute her Dynamic array- Flight to 5, Strength boosted up to 8 now. Also activate the 'TK grip' slot in her other array. Then try to make sense of who is who- Maybe Insight? I'll roll, it is 1d20+3= 6; roll http://www.coyotecode.net/roll/lookup.php?rollid=124757 -pretty poor roll though. Obviously if she is attacked or threatened that will help her decide...

The Shadow

Caleb frowned as he saw the man’s black-orbed eyes. He put his hand on the man’s shoulder. “You were hurt badly,” he told him. “Let the paramedics look you over and determine how bad. But you are going to live,” he assured the man. “Panic will only make things worse.”

The Shadow pulled aside the paramedic. “If you can, see if you can get him to someone experienced with metahuman medicine,” he whispered quietly to avoid the man overhearing. “Something happened out there. I don’t know what. But there are a lot of metas.” He paused, looking back to the disaster zone, and then looked back to the medic. “And if someone hasn’t already, they should alert Middleton.”

With that, Caleb jumped into a shadow again. He didn’t know who these metahumans were, but some of them appeared trying to help. As he popped back into the area, he surveyed the scene. The octoman didn’t appear to have moved out of the Shadow’s globe of darkness. It looked like the small man with the hammer was having some probles.

Unclipping a bolo from his belt, Caleb twirled it briefly and let it fly at the hairy, feral woman with the sharp claws that looked like it was trying to disembowel the hammer man.

Paladin again cannot connect with the fast moving wild woman who laughs with a strange sort of enjoyment at the melee.

Kitsune’s bolts against strike Death Magnet squarely but this time the floating lady was able to reinforce the area where the laser-like blast hit and the bolt bounces off harmlessly into the sky.

Death Magnet snarls and says “After I tear you limb from limb I am going to tear that smug little smile off your face and paint this town in your blood!” she then waves her hands and a metal bar floats up from the rubble pile and flies into the Kitsune illusion but the illusion again appear to be able to deflect the attack off and suffers no affects (at least none that Death Magnet can see). She snarls again in frustration her eyes almost glowing with rage and anger.

The crying woman seems to focus on Galatea for a second and regains some composer. She sniffs and nods her head to the granite heroine, visibly calming at least a little and her tree-like arms seem to stop growing or at least they are not growing as fast as before. Galatea then starts heading towards the rubble pile and the fight going on there...

Ariel can’t really make out who’s who down below, but there are a few figures that appear to be fighting and yelling at each other. Whatever is going on its appears to be that they all have powers and are not friends.

The EMT nods to the Shadow as he fades back into the shadows. The hero thinks he hears the man say “You got it, let’s get this man some help..” before reappearing back at the battle sight. Octoman is still flailing his huge tentacles about moving this way and that and growling in frustration. Throwing his bolo at Feral, the woman seems to have sensed it coming and easily avoided the attack. She glares at were the Shadow and says “Wait your turn honey! I will eat your still beating heart when I am done with shorty here

Then Octoman stumbles out of the darkness and lashes a huge tentacle (that seems to grow) and tries to wrap around the hero of shadows!!!

GM: Initiative Order
25 – Ariel
24 – The Shadow
21 – Octoman
19 – Paladin, Kitsune and Death Magnet
15 – Feral
8 – Galatea

ROUND 3
Paladin missed Feral

Kitusune succeed with one degrees of success vs. Death Magnet, but she got a 26 on her save and no extra affects.

Still Dazed (sorry I missed that on Paladin’s description the first time, now I know), Death Magnet attacks and successfully hit Kitsune’s illusion but again her Insight is not go enough so she still believe the illusion is there.

Feral uses her Agile Feint against Paladin in hopes that she can hurt him next round, but only gets a 14. Paladin should make an Acrobatics or Insight (his choice) check to resist this affect.

Galatea seems to have succeed against the woman and moves 30 feet towards where the pile of rubble is. She is 70 feet from it and can double move next round to be within 10ft.

IF you wanted to get their faster you could use Extra Effort. You could increase your speed by +1 (effectively doubling it) and get to either the rubble pile or Octoman as a move action next round but at the end of your Action you would suffer one level of Fatigued. Or you could send your Hero Point and ignore the level of Fatigue.

ROUND 4
Ariel is not really sure what is going on down there except that meta-humans are fighting. She can’t tell yet who are the badguys and who are the goodguys… or even if anyone is good or bad yet. She needs to get closer.

The Shadow moves back to the battle but his attack misses.

Octoman makes a good perception roll and stubbles out of the darkness area (as a Move action). He then attacked the Shadow, but at -2 (partial concealment from the big blob of darkness) but still successfully hits. Octoman uses his Fast Grab, to as part of his attack he can make a free grab check. The initial attack counts as the grab attack check, so now the Shadow must resist with his Strength or Dodge (player’s choice) vs. a DC 18 to resist being grabbed. He must also make a Toughness save vs. the initial attack vs. DC 23 damage (so you need two checks, just let me know the order).

Actions for Paladin, Kitusune and Galatea for Round 4?

Then Actions for Ariel and the Shadow for round 5??

Paladin swings again at Feral, but misjudges the distance and stumbles.
[sblock="Rolls"]Insight (contested 14): 4 (another natural 1)
Hammer Smash (DC 21): 14

Round 5

With his attention focused on trying to ensnare the feral woman, Caleb just barely caught the sweeping tentacle out of the corner of his eye. The hit took him hard, but he managed to slip out of the encircling limb, staggering back slightly to regroup.

The Shadow spun around, jabbing his staff at the octoman’s midsection.

Kitsune chuckled, and her extra arms folded back behind her back, disappearing. Truth be told, this magnetic villain was proving a tougher target than she'd expected, and it was getting annoying. She needed a way to get through those defenses!

"You can talk big, but the way you keep completely failing to hurt me makes me think your heart isn't in this. You're not really a supervillain, are you? More like a super vandal. In fact, most of this garbage you're picking up is just rubble from the explosion, I bet! Argh!"

She slapped her forehead melodramatically.

"I have you all wrong! You're not BAD. You're cleaning up! Like a maid! Picking up litter! I'm really sorry I was beating you up like that! Tellya what, I just wanna get a snap of you in that ridiculous outfit, and then I'll let you get back to it."

Kitsune held up a little camera to the eye of her mask, and its foxlike muzzle spread into a sharp-toothed grin.

"Say cheese."

The world turned absolutely, agonizingly white as intense flashes of light went off in the faces of both Death Magnet AND the feral lady...because Keiko was feeling kind of bad for the big clumsy guy over there.

Lets see how THEY like being blind.

(OOC - Using Kitsune's Dazzle attack. Burst area with Selective attack means I can target enemies, and I believe Magnet and Feral are close enough together for me to get both. DC 18 Fort save Affliction. Vision Impaired, Vision Disabled, or Vision Unaware depending on how bad they fail.)
