[Mutants & Masterminds] Powers/Secondary Effects as Power Stunts?

Salutations!

I received Mutants & Masterminds for Christmas today...its certainly one heckuva book, I'm glad I finally have it!

The rules seem pretty solid, though I have two questions which I just cant seem to figure out.

Some powers have a power stunt which allows them access to another power. The question is, what rank is the new acquired power at, and is the total cost merely +2? Here's an example:

Say I bought 10 rank in Cosmic Power (which costs 8 pp). That's a total of 80 pp right there. Now aside from the fact I can blast small things to bits, fly and alter matter, I still want to do more. The power stunts for it allow access to several different powers, including Disintegration. I decide to take the power stunt.

Here are the questions: is the total cost 82 pp? More importantly, I have Cosmic Power +10, but is Cosmic Power (Disintegration) also at +10 (since its my Cosmic Power rank)?

Im a bit compulsive about these things, and its bugging me now that I don't know for sure

Any help would be much appreciated!

Hey AereonBlaze,

Let me answer the second question first. Any Power Stunts/Extras taken with the power is at the rank of the parent power. So, yes, Disintegration would be at Rank 10.

Now, according to the M&M book (page 56) under Modifiers-Power Stunts, "A Power Stunt is a Super-Feat (see page 52) associated with a particular power using a power in a particular way. Power Stunts are acquired just like Feats, costing 2 Power Points each." Unlike Extras, Power Stunts are a flat +2 to the cost of the main power, in which you are correct in assuming that the cost would be 82 PP for Cosmic Power with Disintegrate.
