My campaign primer

Didn't notice any name dropping except in the pantheon list.

That's where most of it is. I kept the names of the Sovereign Host from Eberron. As far as the Dark Six, a lot of them have named taken either directly, or with modification (as per the Osterinian/Aasterinian link you noticed), from various D&D settings. (Grayhawk and FR, mostly.)

"Arkhosia" is the ancient dragonborn empire in the 4E "points of light" implied setting.

I feel like a setting primer should have more hooks...

We discussed much of that in-person, during our character creation session. And some of it I haven't created yet, because I wanted to wait until I had character concepts. While I have a vague plan for the arc of the campaign, I don't want to start nailing down details until I know what sorts of adventurers we have, and what the players are looking for out of the game.

An interesting campaign setting that's familiar enough to be attractive to me, but different enough to be a change of pace. I tend to like games set in civilized empires, to that appeals to me.

If I were a player, I'd want to know a little more about the immediate area where the campaign begins. Which city are we starting in and what's it like? What are the other cities like? Other than that, your writeup gives me the information I need without overloading me with extraneous detail.
