My eyelid is twitching again

This hadn't happened for a long while. Last year, while I was irritated and stressed by working at a grocery store when I wanted to be working at a library, I noticed that my upper right eyelid would twitch sometimes. I thought maybe it was stress, or sleep deprivation. Eventually it went away by itself, and I hadn't thought about it for a while.

Now I have a good job at a library, but starting a little over a week ago my lower right eyelid began twitching. It started a few days after I got news that one of my relatives had passed away -- an uncle who I only saw once every 2 or 3 years. I wasn't too torn up about it, and by now I've already gotten over it.

Or so I think. It might just be that I'm not getting enough sleep, or maybe I've got some sort of repressed irritation that I'm not writing enough. Maybe it's eye strain, because it usually only tends to happen when I'm looking at a computer screen, but I'm normally able to do that without any sort of problems. Or maybe I've just got a weird nerve acting up for some random reason.

Any ideas?

This happened to a friend of mine. I would probably try to relax and not think about it too much. Of course that's easier said than done.

You could possibly see a doctor to rule out any medical problems.

Happens to me occasionaly, usualy more sleep related than anything. Even then, it only happens like once or twice where it just spasms.

I had exactly this, and I basically had to take a break from the computer screen and reading(weeks) to get rid of it. If that's too extreme, you might try making sure that you're not working somewhere where there is glare off your screen...

I've got such bad eyestrain that year that I managed to get a small, permanent patch of blood in one of my irises. Kind of cool, but kind of not.

That happens to my eyelid all the time. Take a break from computer screens, TV screens, and books. Yes, I know I pretty much told you to go curl up in a corner and die. ;)

Go for a bike ride and then take a bubble bath followed by a nap. Works every time for me! :D

I have that problem, and saw an eye doctor a couple years ago.

She told me it's a hereditary thing where I inherited weak eye muscles from my mom (its on the x chromosome- so it happens to men more than women). Because of this, my eyes have a hard time straining to focus on something up close- like reading or staring at the computer too long.

Her suggestion, every hour or so, take a break and stare off into the distance for five minutes. By distance, she means horizon (if you are not in the LA area- cause we have no horizon due to smog) or focus on trees far away. And in no circumstance do you stare at the sun. I learned that the hard way ;)

this does not mean close your eyes and take a nap. Because that just causes your eye muscle to spasm and wander. It is better to focus on something far to relax them.

What i am doing about it: I took up golfing.
