My first experience of anti-female gamers!

Well, after 23 years of gaming, I finally encountered misogyny from players. One of the groups that I DM has 4 male and 2 female gamers. The 2 female gamers could not make last week, so we gamed without them. Then this week, I used a DM trick to get their characters with the rest of the party, and then the 4 male gamers said "OK, now we attack them!"

They had previously agreed to kill the female gamers' characters! I was able to talk them out of it, pointing out that one of the male gamers' characters was a paladin, and so not only would not do this, but would fight to stop it. That stopped them, but still, there was some lingering bad stuff, like a male gamer not wishing to heal a female gamer's character.

Mind you, they are all 9 years old, so maybe that has something to do with it.

Well they did have cooties! Would you expect the other characters to simply let a disease like that spread throughout the populace unchecked?!

It was the only way to prevent a pandemic!

I'll admit it. You got me. All the way up to the end, I'm thinking, "little dirtbags are probably complaining about the women's ability to roleplay, and couldn't roleplay to save their lives."

And then I find out, less emphasis on the "dirtbags", more emphasis on the "little"... :D

Use the "sittin' in a tree, K-I-S-S-I-N-G" rhyme, if you really want to incite a player riot. I use this on my 9 year old son when I'm rolling badly in Heroscape. :]

Funny...

Here I thought it was a grown up group until the last part.

You do know cooties are contagious.
Could turn into a plague.

Just think in four years these same boys would be begging for these girls to come to the table.

Yea, you got me.

Although, in our group, we had one female gamer (the wife of one of the players), and there was a game where she was sick and stayed home. And I noticed a difference in how all the guys were without her there. Someone even commented on it. They were more crass, and vulgar, and we cussed a lot more. I thought it was interesting.

Not surprising though (IMHO). Women have been a moderating and civilizing influence on men since the dawn of the species.

"Hey boys--all's of a sudden I'm having FUN!"

I'm not an anti-female-gamer gamer by any strecth of the imagination, but I am (like most of the guys in my group) married.

I'm in no hurry to invite any women to play in our game. We drink booze, we are incredibly crass and vulgar, every other word is an expletive, and we love it. Wouldn't give it up.

While I was waiting for this thread to open up, I was rolling my eyes, thinking. "Let me guess, they had Cooties." Imagine my surprise.....

Well played. :)
