I need to repost a thread which explains most of the background for this scenario. I´ll fill in the rest.
(please note that knowledge of The Price of Immortality trilogy will help a bit to understand the players and what´s all about)
First the wish and the party: it´s a lvl 6 party with 6 characters with great stats and decent gear. The party is actually the Iconics used in Crypt of the Everflame module (fighter, wizard, rogue and cleric. A ranger was added at lvl 4, and now a druid at lvl 6).
when the party was playing through Masks of the Living God I challenged the party: if every player at the table was in time for a session, I would give them something really nice ingame, and so the last Wish on a ring became a reality.
The evil party is Iramine (wiz5/fhtr1/Eldritch Knight3), Egarthis (rogue2/wiz6) and Rennec (fhtr 6). The compound is guarded by 4 lvl 4 half orc rangers with favored enemy:human. They are guarding at a high wall surrounding the hideout.
This is a tough challenge for this party, and I´ve hinted it since they became aware that Iramine was back in Tamran.
This Razmiran contact (see the other thread) called to a meeting where the cleric cast a Zone of Truth - after a Hold Person - and I gave them all the information they needed: where the enemy hid, that the sister is a part of the cult, etc.
At this point the ranger left the room and headed for the hideout (a former party hideout), and spoiled the surprise moment.
(Another big loss is that the wizard has dropped out of the game (Mist of Pandaria release), and that´s a huge blow; no invisibility, no fly, no buffs, no blasting), When they arrived at the hideout the enemy was on full alert.
A couple of Ice Storms and Fireballs later, the Wish was used, pulling the party back to the Zone of Truth scenario. Only the druid (who was killed) and the rogue (who used the Wish) remember what happened.
(The party soon discovered that the Wish was used, and the explanation followed soon thereafter)
In all fairness; all players except the wizard have limited experience of the game, and at this level, it shows pretty well. They couldn´t handle the rangers on the wall at all, who just pinned them down with arrows.
Another big problem is that the casters/players are to lazy to read up on how the spells works, the fighter types forgets to use the various feats and combat manouvers, etc.
And now were are back to the last session: the party discussed what happened and how they should prepare, but in the end they returned both pieces of the amulet, gained some xp and was transported to the road leading to Blackcove, Hellmouth Gulf in Cheliax where they will begin the next adventure, "From Shore to Sea" by Brandon Hodge.
