D&D 5E My FLGS did not have the Essentials box set today

Anyone else have this problem? I asked if I missed something or should have reserved one, but they said it should come sometime this week. They were not concerned about running out, but could not tell me exactly when it will be on the shelves.

I bet Amazon would have had it at my door when I got home.

And this is why both of the FLGS run by friends of mine went out of business.

Have too many - money out of pocket that is now sitting in inventory. Have too few, lost goodwill and sales. Sell at list price - lose sales to Amazon. Sell at Amazon prices, lose money with every sale (when including in costs for rent, people, utilities, gaming space, etc.)

I'm glad you checked you FLGS first, because if we don't value them for everything they bring to the local gaming community and just look at gaming supplies as a commodity, they will go away.

I check my FLGS when I can... but my two closest FLGSs closed (Ancient Wonders and Legend of Gamers), and between going to the game store and getting my comics from my FLCS (a different store), those two stops can take what was an hour of driving and turn it into 3-4 hours, depending on which store I go to (Guardian Games or Rainy Day Games). 😥

I think far more go out of business because they don't treat it as a business.
