My geekiness is rubbing off!

HE'S TWO AND HE ALREADY UNDERSTANDS MONTY PYTHON!? Your kid is probably going to grow up to invent warp drive.
He doesn't understand all of it -- he's only 2 and can only sort of talk, after all -- but he understands enough that he doesn't walk off bored. Which shows some strong, strong geek genes.

He also watches the Princess Bride, but that is MUCH more kid-friendly.

Boz: How can you NOT understand Python? I don't get it. It's like people who say that they don't get the Wall (Pink Floyd). I got everything the first time I watched it. No drugs, either. Very straightforward...

I am trying to turn my son into a geek, but I think he has ADHD and can't focus on something for more than 5 minutes... makes teaching kinda difficult. He loves hero clix, and is a fan of monty python.. it's a start at least. :)
My daughter on the other hand will be easier I think. She is starting to be more coherant and learns well. She already dresses the part by wearing camoflogue pants (sp?) and boots with a shirt that almost never matches.

mostly slang, historical & cultural context, and part with thicker accents. everything that doesn't require knowledge of that, i get pretty well. ;)

I think I'd doing a pretty fair job of geeking up my daughter. Feel free to judge for yourself though. The link is in the .sig.

Ah. I studied British history in college. So I might have a leg up there. I have a better understanding of some parts of British history than some actual Brits do. :)

My point exactly, he doesn't walk away bored so he gets enough[for now]. I didn't get his luxury, my parents hate monty python, as sick as that sounds, so I had to discover it for myself in the later part of my life. your son however, will have python memories from early childhood. that means he'll probably grow up to love it. About Floyd, I got it the first time too. We are among the privilaged few to truly understand the immeasurable genius which is the Floyd.

Sorry for the hijack, but since we're discussing Python, I just got the 14 DVD Mega-set of every Monty Python's Flying Circus episode ever made. My geekiness runneth over. :D

I don't know if it's a sign of shared geekiness, but my daughter was reading by the age of three and was reading Boxcar Children chapter books when she started kindergarten. She and her step-sisters are hooked on Holy Grail, but found the original MPFC shows more difficult to follow/understand.

my lack of understanding has never stopped me from watching and trying, though. ;)

and The Wall is fairly easy once you give the whole album a listen-through. especially after you see the movie.
