My Hexblade

I thought I moved the Armored Mage abilities to 4th, 8th, & 12th.

If I remove one of the good saves (I'll probably get rid of good fort then) would it be too much to allow Mettle back then?

I know that the Curse x/day is very un-Warlock like; however, I do really like the Hexfeats but I don't know how to make the Curse an unlimited use thing without it being broken. Unless I'm under the wrong impression that Curse at will is too strong.

1/ Weaken it; and
2/ allow it to apply to only one target at a time.

That's what I was aiming for with the Steal Luck ability. It's intended as an at-will replacement for the Curse.

I'm actually surprised no one has done this before.
I've seen a similiar version by Jackelope King on the 3rdedition.org boards. I think it was balanced for a custom game, though where all classes were a little more powerful. I've also suggested it a couple of times when people bring up hexblade revamps, because it's a really good and clean idea. ^_^

I'm not sure I like the hexblade having eldritch blast, though. Maybe replace it with something which augments your melee attacks?

Well, there's the Hideous Blow invocation. I also thought about giving full EB progression except under the name Eldritch Strike and make it a standard action to make an attack with a weapon and add ES to it and then having to wait 1d4+1 rounds to use it again.

However, I'll probably use Eldritch Strike for another class/PrC.

Has anyone else noticed the preponderance of Warlock-based reworks, lately? There seems to be a lot of this going on, and I like it. I'm seeing a general shift away from "uses per day" as a balancing mechanic and resting for eight hours after every couple encounters, and I think it's great. Love overdue.

That sounds good to me, except for the extra bookkeeping of that cooldown period. I definitely agree with starwed that some kind of melee attack or enhancement feels better than an Eldritch Blast. Maybe the Soulknife's Psychic Strike ability could serve as a model (limited not by frequency of usage, but by the type of targets it affects)?

Anyway, I really like what you're trying to do, here.

I think the unlimited uses per day is a better model for most things than spell slots/power points. However, I don't think I'd try to find/build a warlock based wizard/psion. Especially since it doesn't promote the "blow your wad and stop the adventure so you regain your powers."

I think, realistically, a person who did that would become dead quite quickly as his party abandons him and a bear eats him for a midday snack after getting hit with a big stick once or twice.

Anyways...

Hmmmm...+5d8 (and not to get to move anywhere for the round but retain all attacks) or +9d6 (and get to move somewhere else in the round but only get one attack).

That's 22.5 vs 31.5
