Some friends came over this evening and we decided to watch the D&D movie (the first one) which I have on DVD. It was fun...everyone laughed at the evil mage's over-acting and Damodar's blue lipstick. The theme music for this movie is big, bold, and brassy.
Well anyway, everyone goes home and I step out on my patio for a smoke break. Rita has not reached this area yet, so it was still hot and humid out. I sat in my green outdoor chair and leaned back for a puff.
Then there it was! I could hear the D&D theme music as if it was being played outside my head. It sounded tinny as if I was listening to it through someone else's ear buds, but I could definately hear it outside my head.
I focused on it and the music was clear as day....every instrument, every note. Then I leaned forward and it suddenly stopped. The patio suddenly seemed very quiet except for the constant buzz of our outdoor air compressor. When I leaned back again, the music came right back, but seemed to have started from the beginning again.
I toyed with this until I finished my smoke and went inside to get a drink. The TV in the house was off; my friends were gone. I went back outside and was able to repeat the same thing, except the second time the volume was much lower so it was hard to hear over the air compressor.
Anyway, I know I didn't hear anything, but my ears sure did think so. Has this ever happened to you? What might explain such a phenomenon?
