My low magic Solution

Well i figured it out tongiht while looking for a party. To lower the amount of magic for Sorcerors/wizards i will allow them to have only one school at 1st level and then another school every 3 levels. this makes high level mages VERY powerful (well, compared to their lower level counterparts). Clerics will be limited to two to 3 chosen spheres of spells....and nothing outside those spheres. both classes get "universal" spells

I still don't know what to do with non core spell casters ( Rangers, bards, and paladins) or Druids. If you have any ideas please share them with me

I'm not sure this restricts Sorcerers that much. It definitely slows low level wizards way down.

I am curious why you want to lower the magic level? Have spell slingers dominated your past campaigns? or just a preference?

Both pogre, and more. We are running an Epic Campaign right now. The Wizard is an idiot and doenst realize she has to memorize spells ( she is relatively new and we have coddled her, too much). I also think spell caster take too much from the none core spell casting classes ( sorcerors, wizards, clerics Druids). I want a change of pace. I also am sick of runnign spell using enemies and seeing my best laid plans traps and baddies destroyed by one spell... granted thats my fault but i am not above taking the easy way out ;)

To give Spellcasters an edge for taking away some of their veratility i am going to allow them to choose one class ability for another class ( Hit Dice, save progression, etc)

what do you think of this? any changes?

Seems to me one of the easiest ways of zapping the problem with magic is NOT to run a Epic Campaign. You can have "epic" campaigns at low-levels too, say around 5 through 12th.
