My next project (#4)!

Could you also check #19, 22, 24, 25, 27, 28, 29, 30, 31, 32, 33, 35, and 36?

#19 If the caster level for the Sp abilities is low, then CR 1 is OK.
#24 seems OK
#25 CR 13
#27 CR 5
#28 Even with the powerful "Icicles" ability I think this is better at 15 than at 19
#29 OK
#30 OK
#31 OK
#32 OK
#33 1 is OK, it has a high DR, but it is slow... and has a feat it cannot use.
#35 Ok, mainly because of the Sp abilities (Stoneskin!)
#36 Maybe 3, I'm not sure

I'll check the new ones later

#37 I am not sure this merits CR 1. The part about the DOGS inflicting only non-lethal damage is the primary reason (BTW, if they are supposed to inflict non-lethal damage without taking the normal -4 penalty then the damage should be (1d4+1 non-lethal) or it should be noted that they don't take the penalty) Maybe CR 1/3

#38 This one is troublesome, because a 2nd level party probably doesn't has any magic weapons, and without a mage they will eventually succumb to the (weak) attacks.
If we assume a wizard is in the party then CR 2 is fine.
(I'd replace the damage with (Strength damage) since listing the "1d2" implies that it is automatic)

#39 Seems fine

#40 With the current DR, CR 5.

#42 CR 3

the caster level probably needs to be higher than HD, like grigs and pixies.

How about #22?

LOL, it sure does... well, I was going to give it Great Fortitude as a bonus feat, guess I will just kill Power Attack instead. :)

#35 Ok, mainly because of the Sp abilities (Stoneskin!)

are you sure that's enough to merit a HD*2 CR though?

I wish I had my books with me so I could look up those penalties...

I'm willing to assume a wizard in the party. ;) or at least one magic weapon between the party members. As for the Attack line listing, again without my books I can't really compare to say the wraith or allip.

#40 With the current DR, CR 5.

yikes! :) but if I normalized it a bit, 3 might be OK?

how about #41?

I'm not sure how snatch works, so I'll pass this one.

With the skills they have, they have a good chance of surprising the PCs. Sp abilities are silent, so they will be able to prepare without alerting the victims. They buff themselves with stoneskin, keen edge, flame arrow, and finally enlarge person. Then use web from a safe distance, and burn those who come out.
On the downside, they are slow, have bad AC, and their low hp means they are very vulnerable to magical attacks. And if they are caught by surprise they are in serious trouble.

So perhaps CR 3 is more appropiate, assuming a mage in the party, as we did with the undead bird.

(Note: there should be a note in the Sp section about these feys being able to enlarge themselves with enlarge person, even if they aren't humanoid)

The allip has "Incorporeal touch +3 melee (1d4 Wisdom drain)"
and the wraith "Incorporeal touch +5 melee (1d4 plus 1d6 Constitution drain)"
But the wraith's constitution drain has, unlike the drain of the allip, a fortitude DC. So the attack line listing of the undead wasn't wrong as I thought.

Probably. Now that I think of it, I went overboard with CR 5 :heh:

Compared to other constructs, CR 12 seems right

now that you mention it, I really didn't think about the fact that they're likely to be casting enlarge on themselves - and they are no longer eligible to be a target of that spell in 3.5. I think I'll get rid of it instead.

So CR 3 should work just fine then (assuming a wizard/spellcaster)?

If you do, remember to also eliminate the reference to the spell in the flavor text.

Yes.

cool. i think that's about all i need on this batch of monsters then. :) IIRC there are less than 10 total to go, from two different sources, but i will just take some time off (a week or so, at least a few days) before moving on to them. thanks a lot, and keep an eye out for my return to this thread. :)

hmm, dammit... but i can't just kill enlarge, since that is a big part of the concept of these guys. i will have to come up with an alternative solution. anyway, thanks again. :)
