This is not what you want to hear, but this is why you backup everything once in a while. :)

Personally I just burn the most important files to CD or DVD and copy the rest to either another computer in the network or another hard disk in the system. Repeat weekly. Works pretty well.

I hear ya. I just reformated my drive because it was gitting a bit clunky, so while I backed important stuff up, it was still a a pain in the butt to get it back to working order. My PC is faster now, but for some reason, my interent is slower and I'm still trying to figure out why.

Blast, are the hard drives okay???
I have been unable to get them to work. :( Mostly a jumper setting. Most everything I did have backed up, lost some cc2 maps, saved games and other 'notes' but not bad plus I get a shinly new 3.0 GHz PC and new video sound card. :)

Drat! You lost the perfect opportunity to switch platforms. C'mon, give Mac OS X a try...you know you want to. ;)

Small Pop, not Boom....

Just to add the list, my PSU 'died' out on me in the early morning of Monday, woke up for some unknown reason, realizing that PC was off,(which wasn't suppose to be), tried to restart...nothing, change plug location, and still nothing...I check the interior, seeing no burn damage of any kind.

Conclusion: It gave the ghost(the PSU) literally...it is in the shop now, and I hope that is all it is...(getting a replacement power core).

But the funny thing is, I had that Unit for a year exactly...500watts(Yes..it is a gaming machine) but all it was doing this morning was playing online music...:(

Will find out tomorrow on the extent of what 'else' could be wrong.

And is it bad or good?
It can be good, if only the PSU is the only thing to worry about, bad...if it is not...but I am hoping that is all it is and nothing more.

In either case, it is damn expensive, when my money is low at the moment...:(

Update: It will be home tonight, after a $76.00 repair...
