Humor is cruel. All humor worth the name. Humor cuts and cuts deep because it says things of us some would rather not hear. All jest will, perforce, offend some, and some need offending. Do your utmost to offend none, and you'll end up offending all.

Your actions were ill advised. You disappoint me.

Hmm, I thought you could use some advice about humor here...

Somebody is going to take offense to anything you say, no matter what it is. Not all complaints will have validity and you need to learn the difference between those complaints that are valid, and those that are not.

In the greater scheme of things the thread in question was utterly inconsequential. It threatened no one, advocated nothing. Had one person used a lick of sense before writing about it, it would've had its day and then passed into history. As it stands now he has alienated me, and given another a reputation he will have to work hard to overcome.

To make this short, in my considered opinion it would be best were alsih2o to take some time off from these forums, to review his life, and those elements in his life which caused his outburst. And then, when the review is done, to make those corrections as are necessary to set his life right. In other words, he needs an oracular lumberectomy, and soon.

Oh, I am sorry, I forgot to change the names! :p

Thanks mythusmage. You tried starting a serious thread, and you have to go and *** it up. Thanks to you it has become an atrocious joke. I hope you're happy.

If you had just left Hong on your Ignore List, and not responded this thread would soon have got back on topic, but instead you had to make a mountain out of a mole hill, and draw attention to the fact you seem to lack any sense of humour.

Has the human soul become such a pitiful thing it must be protected at all times from the bruises and cuts all lives are subject too? Or are we going to tell the nervous nellies and chicken littles to chill out and stop acting so dang antsy, when there aint nothin' goin' on?

Wow, it all seems so appropriate! :p

Mister, put me on your Ignore List. Do not read anything I have to say, no matter how tempted. I don't need your 'contributions' and I would greatly appreciate your not taking part in any thread I begin.

To the mods: Go ahead and lock this thread. I will try again later, when there's a better chance the mature will be able to reply to what I say.

Dude- get a Hongstick. Honestly, a really nice bat with a "hong" inprint used to tattoo his name on the forehead and you'll see the sunshine again. :)

Seriously though, just keep him on ignore and realize that some people on ENWorld have immunity from moderators.

No worries.

Wow, this is an overblown reaction if I've ever seen one (no offense, mythusmage).

First off, dude, chill. If you don't want a lil hong in your threads, I suggest putting him on your ignore list- that way it won't bug you. And I've yet to see hong ruin a whole thread with his humor; usually his comments are a bright moment in a thread, maybe slightly distracting, but usually enjoyable.

Now, on topic: your basic design philosophy (or I guess I should say adventure design philosophy) hits the basics pretty well. Honestly, there's nothing more important to establishing a good adventure (imho) than the motivations of the 'villains'. That, and having consequences for their victory and defeat- maybe if the heroes win the consequence is that the town they saved will forever give 'em cheap equipment, free room and board, etc, while if they lose the town will be enslaved by the xvarts and the pcs will have to move away if they want to purchase so much as a stick.

Anyway, yeah- you seem to be hitting all the standard issues here. Well said.

Okay, we're done. Some emails have already been sent; others are on their way. Folks, don't feed fires.

Klunk.
