(My) Stats for a Sap?

. . aka a blackjack. . .

Are there rules for them somewhere? And if so, can someone give me an idea of what they are? I did not see it in the SRD.

I assume it is blunt, simple weapon that does 1d3 non-lethal damage, using one provokes an attack of opportunity?

Something like that?

A sap is small and compact and heavy b/c it is filled with lead shot (or something similar) and not much bigger than a fist and no reach to speak of (i.e. less than a stick). It is also meant to be used on someone who is basically unaware and you strike them in a specific spot for it to work (i.e. you cannot "sap" someone by hitting them in the gut).

Since D&D combat is abstract, I have ruled that condition as equaling AoO - meaning you have to use it when someone is surprised/flat-footed/unarmed.

It is not about punishing anybody.

Make it a simple weapon then too. Its no longer worth being martial.

Not only that, I made the crit multiplier x3 in order to make it emulate the chance of knocking someone out with one good clean hard blow.

Also, I am moving this to house rules. . .
