You guys are huffing glue if you think Wizards of the Coast is going to release their own version of first edition.

Wow.

yeah, there's enough other companies that have tried to do that. ;)

what i do hope is that with the DI, Wizards takes a look at the "updated nostalgia" aspect of what Paizo did with the mags and keep running with that, rather than stick with their recent "if it's old, it's bad - we only want 100% new ideas!" lameness.

In the past year, Wizards has revisited Castle Ravenloft, Castle Greyhawk, the Demonweb Pits, Undermountain, and Icingdeath's Cave (to name a few).

If those do not satisfy your demand for "updated nostalgia", then I propose nothing will.

When I saw that pic on the Gleemax blog I thought it had something to do with Wizards' upcoming game, Uncivilized: The Goblin Game.

Hey, I'm a roleplayer. Imagining cool but impossible things is what I do for fun.

LOL, nice. But seriously. One of the bigger complaints about 3.x is that its to complex. Imagine the basic d20 system (roll a die, add a modifier, compare to DC) and character flexibility with 1st ed's simple setup and tactical options (no AoO, no 5ft step, etc).

Note: As I wrote that last half, I realized that that would severely hurt the minis game and WotC would never do that. Still, I can dream.

I doubt it, but I also hope they show us more of the game soon. A preview letting everyone play a few simulated rounds for free would be especially nice.

... and you'd get Castles & Crusades. Seriously. If that at all remotely appeals to you, check it out.

hmm, good point that. i guess i was thinking of some comments regarding the DI and converting old monsters/spells/etc and how "the well has gone dry". maybe that was an isolated comment that just got me riled up. ;)

Yeah, I wondered what was up with the animated idol from the 1E PHB posted on my friends list bulletin board the other day.

It was pretty cool, though.
