Everyone keeps saying that the market isn't right for a 4.0. Well there is a market for a 4th ed, if it is an updated version of 1.0. WotC could support both 3.5 and New1 at the same time.
Oh gawd I hope not, it'll be the stupidity of running AD&D against Basic/Expert D&D all over again. Used to drive me friggin' nuts.

Yes, yes, yes, a million times yes! :D

(Also: no, not really, but it would be k3wl and I'd end up buying at least a dozen copies to give to all my 3.5-playing fiends, who wouldn't buy their own because they really don't see a need to own a 1e AD&D PHB. :] Fools! )

We are coming up on 30 years since the release of AD&D, the AD&D 1e PHB was released in 1978.

Do they really need to be reprinted though? It's not like they are hard to get. At used book stores or on eBay you can get most 1e hardbacks for about $10 each.
$10? Try "take these out of here and we'll pay you. We swear they'll make excellent coasters!"

I've got a hunch, based on the gleemax post - it's their GenCon booth (or at least the centrepiece), complete with "observation deck".
:)

You guys are huffing glue if you think Wizards of the Coast is going to release their own version of first edition.

Wow.

Yeah, going back to 1E isn't "Forward thinking positive thoughts."

For a company so insistent on the current edition's superiority and that "200x was the Best Year Ever for D&D" they certainly play enough on old-edition nostalgia...

Hey, I'm a roleplayer. Imagining cool but impossible things is what I do for fun.

That's the point of building product identity and a relationship with your customers.
